Friend and I had gado gado. Good size serve with lots of ingredients, could taste cucumber, tofu, bean sprouts, lontong all smothered by a delicious layer of peanut sauce. Friendly staff, obviously family run

Having lived in, and travelled extensively throughout, Indonesia I have developed a real taste for Indonesian food. It's a real treat to find a place with all my favourites - rendang, bakso, cap cai... Even their tea is teh sorso, and Indonesian brand so it tastes just like I'm having a meal in my local warung. On too of the... More

various members of the family have dined here for around 8 years now and the food has always been consistant and outstanding. The setting is very authentic a small shop like area to dine with seating outside on the pavement in a quiet suburb of Brisbane. We had tofu pad thai, mixed noodles, rice, a veg coconut curry, prawn rendang,... More

Having a friend married to an Indonesian, we go there about 3-4 times a year. It's just a tiny place, so don't wonder if you end up on the footpath, but this is common on busy Hardgrave Road anyway. If you come with an open mind (me as a non-Indonesian) you will be surprised by the different flavors on offer.... More

I've been going to Makanan since it opened years ago and the food is still consistently amazing under their master chef Mie Mie. Great place with a family feel. Love it!

Sambal beef and chilli fried chicken were just fantastic. BYO meant we could have our fave beers with lunch. Very casual and friendly. Don't let looks deceive you - very very tasty Indonesian food.

I've been here a few times now as I've been looking to move into the area. I always feel very welcome and it's very quick service. I've tried most of the vegetarian dishes on the menu and have enjoyed them all - recommend the nasi goreng :-) large servings for a reasonable price. I'm looking forward to having Makanan as... More

Had lunch with a couple of Indonesian friends visiting and the couple who own the place were very welcoming. The food was authentic although I suspect that some of the dishes were pre-prepared and reheated. Some dishes like rendang tastes better overnight and I totally get that. The fried chicken was tasty but a bit dry for my liking.

We have been to Makanan so many times we have lost count. The food is so delicious that we often crave it on the days after we have gone there. The golden chicken, perkedel, nasi campur, cankung, rendang and belado are our favourites. The previous comments about tasteless food and reheating are such nonsense. We have never been disappointed and... More

Since I wrote my last review in December last year I've been back twice, but both times it was very disappointing. I totally agree with one of the reviewers that the food tastes re-heated and dry. I also tasted rancid oil. My friend, who is a vegetarian, couldn't finish her gado-gado as it tasted foul. We won't be going back,... More
