Wasn't very impressed: food & service could be improved

I went there for a birthday lunch on a Saturday. I had high hopes (given the price tag of the menu), but was quite disappointed. I found the menu very limited in options. Being 11.45am on a Saturday, I was really hoping to see some "brunchy" options: i.e eggs benedict, all day breakfasts etc... read more

with a group of friends and I went to eat on Friday night, the place was very busy but the service was attentive, the bar was full, the food arrived on time and was very good, the only downside of the evening people almost sat at our table.

For me this place has a lot of memories of long nights with friends when I lived in Brisbane! So I am a bit biased. 3 of us ended up a larger team dinner with a nightcap here and it was lovely and relaxed. A great wine list and generally friendly staff. I like the openness of the bar and... More

This is a well known, well located and popular bar. I have been to a number of events, functions and even quite drinks here over many years. We may just have been unlucky, but it is unlikely we will try again to find out. A quite drink before heading out to dinner, sounds like a great idea. Try somewhere else.... More

I visited cru bar for a weekday lunch with three friends. We had pre booked a table and ordered wine and several of the share plates. While the food was delicious and served quite quickly, the waitress who looked after us had a bit of an attitude. She was blunt and even rudely corrected one of us when accidently referring... More

Beautifully done food and drinks list and lovely attentive service nothing is too much to ask - we went here 3 times on our last visit to James St and visited the amazing Cellar - so refreshing to have somewhere like this in Brisbane! It's not the most cutting edge or fluffy menu (oysters, steak, squid, pasta, pizza) but what... More

Here it is! Great food, excellent beverages, and good service all in one place. Ok, it's not cheap, but it is in James Street where the well heeled locals frequent. It's worth it for something special.

At 10.20 pm we were able to have some shared plates. Staff were very helpful and calamari was excellent. Visited many times in the past but still good for better than casual food.

After walking out of the Gordita, as they have no concept of service, it is nice to see the Cru bar maintains its consistent high level of personal service each and every time we visit ( ~ each month).. We shared had the oysters and the prawn pasta, the prawns were fresh and a good size, the pasta was perfect..... More

Popped in for a quick drink before a show nearby. We had beers and champagne. We found the flute and even the beer glasses a tad smaller than average. Lovely little place though, loved the couches, cushions and curtains etc. Would have liked Moet by the glass but was bottle only. Found the sav blancs limited.
