I gave this place a rave review when first visited about 12 months ago but alas it has gone the same way as many establishments that start off with a bang. I persevered for a couple of visits and had to send my coffee back once for being weak and another time the cake wasn't up to the usual standard....left... More

When they claim the best tosties in town they are absolutely right. You have to squash into a very small full places though. Services is ok, staff don't speak much English and just reply and smile yes no matter what you say to them.

We had coffee here twice. The food choices were limited and we did eat there the second time. My husband's coconut toast was very dry and he did not enjoy it. Mine, and I can't remember what I had, was very nice.

I usually love this place, great atmosphere, cake and coffee. However we came in on a Sunday for brunch. Having read reviews that they served the best toasties in town we were up for some toasties then cake. All I can say is that the toasties were not great. We ordered a cheese and tomatoe and also a chicken toastie.... More

I have frequented this once delightful cafe when I have been in the CBD. Loved the decor and atmosphere and the cool face cloth - especially great in the Darwin weather. However, last visit no cloth - had to ask for water. Service seems to have slipped somewhat. It is a little expensive and the menu somewhat limited.

Very, very... disappointing. Service is terrible. Chocolate brownie cake, was rock hard for my son. Ice cream frozen, so frozen that we couldn't get a spoon in it, even when warming up with our hands?.....why serve ice cream with cakes anyway!.....a pot of cream would have been better ....5 minutes later, ice cream still hard.... My order of cake never... More

It was pleasant. I suppose that's all we can say. Not fantastic. Not bad. I would go back and try it again.

I have eaten twice at this cafe now with friends and sadly I don't think we will bother again. It is very overrated, the service is very ordinary and the menu definitely overpriced for what you get. It's a typical Darwin spot for the local 'socialite' clique and tourist crowd. Plenty of other options abound in the CBD which are... More

I'm a regular at Java Spice and i think it is just beautiful. It's Asian eclectic decor is very unique to Darwin. As soon as you walk in the door the sweet spice scent is just delicious. You are given a cold towel and water once you've taken a seat, a great thing to have especially in the Darwin heat.... More
