Great food and reasonable wine list, fully priced

As far as I can tell, everything at Yalara is expensive, which knocks the sheen off a bit (fuel was more expensive here than in the central Kimberley, so remoteness doesn't entirely fit the story). However the food is excellent, and the wine list not too bad.

We could hear the kitchen barking out orders from our otherwise cosy romantic table. That together with the price point and our sweet but novice waitress seemed incongruous with the five star restaurant this establishment aspires to be. The French onion soup was served with pork and a slab of brie-like cheese on top. The duck ravioli were in a... More

Great restaurant!! The best in Ayres Rock Resort by far. Friendly and knowledgable staff, exciting menu including a lot of local game meats and locally sourced bush tucker. Must do when you visit!

Although staying at sails in the desert we did the trick over to the desert garden hotel as the main restaurant in sales was pretty ordinary. It was worth the effort. We shared an entree platter of crocodile emu wallaby and kangaroo which was, to say the least, very interesting. The service was good if a little slow and the price... More

A good start to the meal was let down by declining attention from wait staff, and poor execution of the desserts. Given the price of the meal, and the reputation on tripadvisor, I expected excellence. We booked the table in the morning, as we were told it is popular. We walked the 500m or so from our hotel (Sails in... More

Ordered 5 entrées: the Australian tasting platter(boring), watermelon soup(weird), pork belly(salty), and beef ribs(boring). $100 bill and food was served cold/lukewarm at best, wait staff in experienced and not ever attentive, when we told them we weren't having wine, they still left the wine glasses and drinks menu on the table. We asked for the bill and waited 20 mins... More

I stayed at the desert garden hotel and this was the restaurant of that hotel. It was a nice environment to relax but the service is really slow at times. I overheard some patrons complaining about how they waited an hour for their main to be served. The food is also not worth the price

Certainly not inexpensive but we were persuaded by a very nice menu to choose from. We were there two times. The first time everything was very good, exactly as ordered and served by friendly staff that made us forget the AU$ 225,-. Two days later was a disaster! Medium steak was very well done, medium rare one an overcooked medium.... More

We ate here both nights and were very impressed. To keep the cost down, we only had entrees and shared a dessert. Although small, all the food was exquisite, the service was excellent, never batting an eye at our choices and helpfully pointing out it would be a very small meal in some instances.
