It's been five years since I've been there but the Pioneer Hotel and it's outdoor BBQ are the best value entertaining meal anywhere at Ayres Rock. The hotels there are mostly five star price and so are the meals. At the town center there are many take away like meals available but you won't get the tourist experience of bbqing... More

Given the prices of restaurants in the Resort, this is the best place to eat! The beer on tap is good, the atmosphere is great and it is fun (though hot!) to cook one's own meat. The salad bar is sufficient, though not exciting. I would have returned if I had discovered this earlier. I would say that it is... More

Love the DIY BBQ. I was so happy that I am able to sample a bit of everything with the outback combo - kangaroo, emu, croc... you name it, they got it. You can chose to cook the food yourself and ensure that it is cook thoroughly. Although the salad bar was nothing to sing about, the service is great... More

Hello DaffyT55 The selection of Australia game meat is great at the BBQ Bar and for many of our guests it is the first time experiencing these types of meats. The Salad bar which is included in the meat purchase is intended to be the typical salads selection that you would see at home at most BBQ's in Australia. Thanks... More

The BBQ has a good range of meats and salad bar which you pick and prepare yourself, it's all up to you, and fun in a group. Beer is cold (don't forget your room key for every round) and the small take-away provides relatively cheap offerings, pizza, burgers, fish and chips to eat there or take away. Best atmosphere in... This was in one of the more affordable hotels at Yularu, and the nice food and drink was pleasantly informal and well-priced. We liked the "western" motif, as we sat at picnic tables with people from Italy and Germany.

The meat you choose to grill yourself is good but the accompanying salads and dessert bar is third-rate at best. You are in the middle of nowhere so expect an unsophisticated, basic dining experience.

Hello gailedie The BBQ Bar dining option is in principle what you would expect from a home BBQ. Salad bar consists of coleslaw, potato salad and tossed salad and a couscous. There is also baked potato and vegetables finished with a dessert. This is all priced into the cost of the meat purchase. Our venue offers a great selection of... More

I had to cook my own meat and that was a challenge not to be repeated. Salad bar was quite ordinary. Noisy live music was not the ambience we were looking for.

Yulara doesn't have much in the way of places to eat...but the Pioneer BBQ was a great alternative that provided lovely game meat. Walk up to the counter, select your meat, then go cook it the way you like it. Simple as that. I opted for the delicious sausages that were a sample of Emu, Croc, Beef, Buffalo & Roo.... More
