Only spent a couple of hours here, but it was very enjoyable. Great pub atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff and great prices. Brought our young daughter and she was also happy. Good if you want to get away from the pricier resorts for a while.

This is in the Pioneer Lodge area. You order your meat, get it raw, and you cook it your self on large grills. I don’t know how to cook a kangaroo or emu or how long. They don’t tell you and they don’t clean the grills when you are finished – meaning those with allergies are on their own; who... More

Just unpleasant greasy food, served hurriedly and half thrown in the bin, sadly. I wouldn't recommend this. But at 9pm you will have NO choice if you're imprisoned here - so tough!

While staying in the Emu Walk Apartments we decided to have one meal out at one of the restaurants. We took my brother-in-laws advice and tried the self BBQ and buffet at Pioneer Lodge. My Dad had a steak (23.90), my mum a Kangaroo fillet (22.90), and I had Emu sausages (21.90). The cook your own BBQ is great if... More

We walked across the outback from our hotel in search of cheap take away beer and had a bite at the Pioneer Kitchen. We chose burgers and at $12.50 each, are probably the cheapest meal in Yalara. Service was friendly, telling all to keep hydrated with the free chilled water. Food was good but nothing special. Could imagine this pub... More

Hello GREGdMelbourne Our licensing laws at Ayers Rock govern us to sell liquor only to in house guests of the resort. Purchase of alcohol for our bar requires the presentation of a room key to verify staying in the hotel. Occasionally we require guest to get a pass from reception if they have left there room key behind to safe... More

We had drinks at the bar a couple of times .They have big long tables set up under a roof with pool table and live music on most nights. The service is quick and friendly . You do have to show your room key or park pass each time you buy alcohol though. One night we ate at the 'Cook... More

Hello MillieMelbourneVic Glad to see you enjoyed the atmosphere and dining at the BQQ Bar. The slef cook option is very popular here at the resort with many guest trilling some of the Australia game meats we have for the first time. Our beverage selection at the Outback Pioneer is quite broad with the bar stocking Australian craft beers, local... More

We could have used better instructions on how to cook our meat but it was a nice piece of meat for the price. It is also a brilliant design to have people prepare their own meal. The only complaint is that salad bar was really bad. They could have a smaller selection and have a few decent sides instead of... More

This place offers the possibility of buying an over-priced steak (or chicken or fish), using their BBQ and access to their salad bar. As Voyages ones the entire resort, you are limited in your elections of food. Their staff are all backpackers, not people with real kitchen experience. The salad bar had a poor selection that was not refilled with... More

When i saw this advertised on the website, we thought it would be great! However for the price that you pay for the (very average quality and cuts of meat) it did not match the backpacker vibe. I understand that this is the vibe, but match the prices to the meat and atmosphere and then we are ready to rock.... More

Good steak and fish, bit selection to pick from, cook yourself on the BBQ. Nice variety of salad and desert to fill you. Similar to most pubs in Australia only in a spectacular location.

Hello AussieTravelCouple We certainly are in a spectacular part of the country. The BBQ Bar is a popular bar in Ayers Rock Resort and unlike most pubs in the country we don't have pokies, but definitely have a great selection of nice cold beer and wine to wash down ones meals.
