good atmosphere, good selection of beer and food. Cook it yourself, almost home from home!! We enjoyed it, reasonable value. Be warned you are not indoors but under cover so you might get the odd mossie etc.

A fun place to visit if you just want a drink or if you have dinner in mind then the cook your own steak with salad bar provided and included in the price is a good choice although a bit expensive, $18 for three snags is a bit on the ridiculous side. The entertainment for the night is a single... More

Good fun, good food, good music, oh and you don't have to book but you do have to BBQ your own meat. Just rock up and enjoy a truly unique outback experience

60+ travellers wrong demographic for this BBQ dinner in my opinion. More for the young. Had to eat off metal plates and cook your own food. Didn't like the meat selections, for example you could only get sausages in threes, when you might only like a taste of one emu sausage for example. And three large kangaroo steak kebabs too... My husband and I had dinner one night at the Pioneer BBQ. We were actually staying at the Desert Gardens Hotel but one of the good things about the resort is that you aren't limited to eating just at your hotel. Quirky little BBQ where you select and cook your own meat with plenty of salads and sides. Enjoyable evening... More

Good cuts of meat and lots of salad. The tables needed cleaning more often. Piles of dirty dishes in front of you, tends to spoil a great night.

The Hotel self-cook streak restaurant is a must do, we had an outstanding Kangaroo steak. But bring your own seasoning if you like your meet with some added flavors.

Was staying at the Outback Pioneer Hotel, and we decided to check out the BBQ after our evening visit to Uluru. My son and I both love diverse foods, and both love to cook. So we loved the concept, and had a blast. Grilled a kangaroo filet, some croc and emu and some very nice prawns. Throw in the well... More

Seems to be the central hub at night with a musician playing every night and people staying at other resorts and camp ground going there making it an awesome atmosphere and great place to meet people. Loved it.

I had garlic prawn and chicken pizza, which tasted ok, if not great. My wife had spicy barramundi burger and it was not good.
