The concept is self cook meat with all you can eat salads. They have a selection of standard stakes along with bush tucker (kangaroo, crocodile and emu). The live music adds to the atmosphere

Outdoor DIY BBQ - excellent. Exactly as we expected - you choose your meat - steak, kangaroo, fish, sausages, burgers - cook it yourself and then help yourself to any amount of salad, roast pots, veg. Also pudding and custard. Outdoor bench style seating. Great atmosphere.

Loved this experience - you pick out your meat and you get to BBQ it yourself and also get a salad bar. It was a lot of fun especially since my boys love grilling and the meat was a really good quality. My boys & husband had the kangaroo, I had the high-end steak and the meal cost $95 total... More

Hello lanamom Thanks for the great review. Fantastic to see you enjoyed the self-cook BBQ option here at the Outback Pioneer Hotel. You mentioned Ilkari buffet at Sail in the Desert and Sounds of Silence. These are both very popular dining options at Ayers Rock Resort. I hope you enjoyed them all, as they all offer very different dining experiences.... More

If you don't mid cooking your own meat, this is an excellent way to dine. Besides the usual steaks and fish, you can also get kangaroo, emu and crocodile sausages. Salad selection is good though it didn't change from one night to the next. Same with the dessert - mixed fruit crumble and custard every night. A game of pool... More

Hello .DaleBbB Thanks for mentioning the wide variety of meats available at the BBQ Bar in your review. For many of our guests that dine here it is their first opportunity to try these products and sometimes their only time. The crocodile sausages are a new line that was introduced a few weeks ago and they are very tasty. So... More

We drank here a few times as it was cheap. 1 beer and 1 Southern comfort $12.60. You had to show your room key to be served, which was fine with us. We met some lovely tourist (overseas). We didn't try the BBQ but had a Hamburger, chips and drink combo for $18. One of the best burgers i've had in... More

Rude staff, average to mediocre food, ok fir back packers but otherwise give it a wide berth. Felt very unwelcome. Accused if trying to scam a free meal (not the case, just wasn't that hungry and chose prawn skewers instead of a steak - apparently this isn't a meal!). Can't buy a drink without room ID. Can't buy more than... More

We had an early dinner here, to avoid the crowds, and discovered we had come in on happy hour. So our drinks were $1 off. We got to chose our own piece of fresh meat/sausages to cook.
