Balmain review

Shame there aren't two catagories for the two locations as our Balmain experience has been great TWICE. First time was takeaways and have to say the grilled John Dory was possibly best eaten certainly for a takeaway grilled fish. The chips that I wasn't going to eat, were also much better than I... read more

A month open and not yet busy, no atmosphere on a saturday night. Our meal was so so, overcooked chips and ok fish. Good in concept, but nothing special. Needs to to better to survive on the strip it is on. We'd always return to Love Fish in Rozelle over this place.

Very disappointing Dry, cold, old tasting chips Ordered mahi mahi - grilled - over done and therefore lost any of the subtle flavored the fish is famous for Kids meals were good Complementary wine( they're new) was quite good Service was as expected Will need to step up if they're planning to be successful in Balmain At this stage, I... This place is very ordinary. The fish was very dry and rubbery with no flavour, and the chips were overcooked and tasted like cardboard. What's even worse is that it cost me $25 for the Mahi Mahi which was supposed to be the nicest and most expensive item on the menu. Seriously, don't waste your money, you will get far... More

Waited over 40 minutes for 2 serves of incredibly base fish and chips. Order was lost - staff admitted fault but the customer service ended there. Upon asking for some kind of consolation, we encountered nothing but nonchalance which ended up escalating into full blown aggression when we asked to speak to a manager. We left hungry, upset and ripped... More

A tiny establishment in Paddington but makes up for it big time by serving delicious fresh seasonal seafood at reasonable prices . BYO Reservations not accepted. Servings accompanied with chips and a choice of salads have just the right balance. The salmon cakes are just like Mother used to make Service is quick with friendly obliging staff. Definitely one of... More

It's packed from about 6 to 8.30 pm. There's no booking so wait for a table to become free in a nearby hotel - cross the road, up the hill to Victoria Rd. It's a bring your own wine place with a small corkage charge. There's a menu behind the counter/kitchen and you order and pay there. Cash only. Your... More

We take our granddaughter here about once a month. Our last visit was on 7th October 2013. The three of used shared two starters – Coriander and Chili Prawns and Garlic Prawns. They come on three skewers of prawns on each dish i.e. we have two skewers each. They are also served with salads which we usually save for the... More
