What a lovely treat, We were here last Sunday for a wine-tasting three course lunch. With a little cosy room at the front and a lovely courtyard at the back I could believe we had been transported to France. Delightful French staff and chef and delicious well-executed food - what more could you ask? Try it - you will enjoy!

Imagine a Sydney chef, in a little Surry Hills restaurant, putting on a 7 course detestation of his favourite all-time recipes from the leading chefs in France and Spain and delivering on every dish to the highest standard. Well, this year Jean-François of Le Pelican delivered a Christmas and New Year menu treat that would be hard to beat anywhere... More

We visited this restaurant based on the highly positive recommendations from trip advisor. Our mid-week experience did not match the high standards obviously experienced by others. The scallops were overpriced at $5 each for something simple and plain. The pâté was bland, the lamb we ordered was tough, as was the duck and any accompanying flavours were not what the... More

I've been to le Pelican many times now. It is always difficult to choose what to eat as it all looks fantastic. I often get the chef to recommend his favourite dish of the night and have never been let down. The food is truly authentic French cuisine with an emphasis on the South West area. Often traditional dishes are... More

Le Pelican is a small restaurant off of Oxford St. The food could best be described as modern french cuisine. The service from the front of house staff was good and the kitchen prompt, however I should say that the restaurant was not overly busy on the night we went. The menu is small, but well executed. There are a... More

An enjoyable experiance by all means. The food was cooked to perfection, although the dishes are small the attention to detail has never failed. The restaurant itself is situated in a more quiet area of surryhills but central enough. One of my favourites is the duck patte, made traditionally as are most of the dishes. However, I did find the... More

Situated just off Taylor Square in a fine old sandstone building, diners have a choice of cosy indoor dining rooms or eating al fresco. Either is delightful, depending upon the weather and your mood. Service is welcoming and efficient - even if the French accents can be a little thick and sometimes hard to understand. There is a small al... More

We have been coming here since it opened more than 7 years ago. It is always a pleasure, always more than we anticipate and always satisfying. Jeff and Ally are the best of hosts. The food is always stunning. Wine list excellent. Feels like we are back in Paris.

A small, cozy, pleasant French-style bistro that is good for either just a glass of wine or proper eating. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.
