My husband and I took our daughter and her boyfriend there for her birthday dinner at her suggestion. The service was excellent and we had a lovely meal costing $363 for 4 including tip and wine. My daughter was keen on the cheese plate so ordered it and we had other share plates as well that we... read more

We had lunch at Le Pelican restaurant in Surry Hills yesterday and what a a pleasant surprise. Lovely home style cooked dishes, great service. We felt that a lot of thought had gone into the menu. The food was very tasty. What also made it very " homely" was meeting the owners chocolate coloured Labrador that paid our table a... More

On a stormy Sunday night we swept into Le Pelican in Darlinghurst to be greeted warmly and seated in this little corner of France - attentive staff, generally excellent food and a neat wine list of French and local produce. The escargot, battered veg risotto, crackling pork and meringue/strawberry/rhubarb desert were great but the 'Two Ways Duck' became a one... More

My hubby & I were visiting a relative in nearby St Vincent's Hospital and decided to head out for dinner. Little did I know he had found in a quick phone search that there was a French restaurant nearby. This is a wonderful little Sydney gem that I thoroughly recommend. The staff were sweet and helpful, the perfect balance of... More

We were near Le Pelican over at Forbes St and decided to drop on on spec, and boy am I glad we did! A couple who were dining at the front table were raving about the food, so we jumped in. Firstly, Exceptional service. Top notch. Second. The food. I ate roast partridge. Sublime, exquisite. The boy took on a... More

The title basically explains it all because this restaurant has it all. Our meals were perfectly portioned and timed. Every single course was a pleasure to look at, and more importantly, savour.

Tried this on a recent visit to Sydney, which coincided with my wife's birthday. Though the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday, they replied during off-hours to my email request for a table, and were very accommodating in setting up some surprises for my wife when we arrived. Both the food and service were top notch. We tried the oysters,... More

A wonderful lunch with friends, all with a french connection,so we were all keen to try the french food . Despite my worries about being able to park anywhere near this restaurant, I managed to get a park right out the front and others, not far down the road..Good Start.. The young gentleman that looked after us was just lovely,... More

After reading reviews on this restaurant, I decided to take a punt for Valentines day. The staff responded quickly to my reservation message and very open to questions. I was a bit worried about the rain as our table was outside under umbrellas but it cleared just before we ate. It may be worth keeping your options open or checking... More

We can't imagine to eat a bouillabaisse in Sydney! It is done...it was good, and French taste. The beef and our other choices was great also. We received also good advice from the French waiter, for our stay in Sydney.
