Friendly service, no pretence, good food

This is a very friendly restaurant with good food. BYO makes it cheaper with a bottle shop just nearby towards Cleveland Street. We calamari for a starter - tough and chewy - try something else. The mains however were great. I wanted the lotus leaf salad and asked for a recommedation for an... read more

We have been coming here for years. Ingredients are fresh, menu is unpretentious. I recommend the Camp Fire Beef, taro spring rolls, Bo Luc Lac (diced beef) and the soft shell crab. Use lots of the herbs and fresh lettuce to roll your own rolls with the camp fire beef, it's delicious. Good value honest food. Service is friendly, Mai... More

This place is so small you could be forgiven for walking past and do not be alarmed by outward appearances as it's not at all appealing with dead flies stuck between the menu and the window! You take your own alcohol and luckily there is an off licence a few doors down and when you walk in you could be... More

We came to the restaurant thanks to the many good reviews, and we not disappointed. Almost missed the restaurant, it was so small and almost hidden ! Keep an eye out if you go. We tool a vietnamese papaya salad, it was fresh, crunchy, tangy, oh so good ! and the price, 13$ for fresh and good vegetables... nam nam... More

Completely understated, but the food is delicious and inexpensive. I have been going here for years and I love every meal I have had there.

On the strength of previous reviews, my wife and I walked some distance to get here, worked up a reasonable appetite on the way and we certainly weren't disappointed. From the outside it looks like a rather ordinary little Vietnamese restaurant but the standard of the meals on offer inside is well and truly excellent, indeed some of the nicest... More

Don't let the decor put you off, this place serves fantastic food! We shared numerous dishes, all which made us want more! Papaya salad with subtle hint of chilli was great, followed by the wonderful Campfire Beef with its delicious slices of tender meat sizzling in a bowl with fresh slices of tomato and onion. The campfire is great as... More

Second visit here with wife's friends (all Vietnamese). Each time everyone has enjoyed the experience overall, sampling a good percentage of the menu. I thought the Beef in pepper sauce and deep fried pork were the best dishes, along side the vegetables in sweet chilli sauce (I should know all the VN names by now ... ), other favourites where... My 3 travel companions were all very satisfied with their food. Chicken curry, vegetables & noodles, quails & a beef dish. I ordered the taro spring rolls (interesting combo) & fried calamari (overcooked & too much batter).

We were 20 minutes late for our 7:30 booking, yet on entering the restaurant we wondered why we had booked as the small restaurant was empty. Within 10 minutes of our arrival however there was not a spare seat to be found, as other diners and obvious regulars streamed through the doors. Hesitation turned to anticipation as we studied the... More
