So noisy!

This is a beautifully restored building and the decor reflects its stately Victorian background. However, the lofty ceiling of the bar on the first floor means that the room is very noisy, to the point where guests end up with sore throats from shouting at each other. This place is going to struggle. Aggressive door staff do not know you can go out with out needing to go to the bar. Nice building does not make up for obnoxious staff.

Went with 2 of my friends, beautiful setting , good food, for 135.00 we had main, with glass of cabsav and desert. Well worth it, it was busy so waiter a little late but when the desert came it calmed us down Good food , good ambience, nice French deco

We had a cocktail party in the Attic Bar at the ArtHouse. The Attic Bar had a great atmosphere with comfortable couches and was perfect for what we wanted. It was private and we had our own bartender. YeMon the Event & Sales Manager was great to work with, very professional and she just made things easy.

We stopped for lunch on one our days exploring Sydney because a tour guide had recommended the local craft beers that could be found on tap. The beer selection was good and so were the salads we had. The decor is attractive - high celings, wood floors, and a nice bar. As in most Aussie pubs, you order at the... More

Ive been to the Arthouse on many occasions. Great selection of beers. Typical Pub Grub which is quite tasty. I usually go for the steak which is very good. The Pizzas are also very nice. Service is hit and miss. If your lucky all meals will come out at once. I had to wait an additional 40 min as my... More

We met some friends from our travels a long time ago, it was their first time to Sydney it was raining and they had done the waterfront during the day. We wanted somewhere different and picked the Arthouse. Had not been there a while. It was perfect. Terrific decor, lots of different levels, a good selection of beer and wine.... More

The Graffiti restaurant up stairs in this wonderfully restored old building is well worth a visit. Out group of six dined on a Saturday night and we were surprised to find that it was not packed out. The food was uniformally first class and interesting. The zucchini flowers were memorable. The Italian wines on offer were of good quality.

This pub is across the road from where I work so it's a handy place to have lunch with colleagues. The food is always nice, there is a good selection of wines and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's a shame they turned the quiet part of the downstairs into a gaming room so we now have to sit... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
