loved the different twist and lighter feel to all their dishes. Definitely more expensive than your average indian restaurant but i think its well worth it. Do check kitchen opening hours.

I went time Zaaffran for a friends birthday dinner and we were all very happy with our meals. My partner and I shared two vegetarian mains being the Subz Biryani and the Sorak. Both were exceptionally good. We sat on the balcony area overlooking the harbour where the atmosphere was fantastic. They also had a good range of beverages which... More

Who will make a vegetable biryani with winter vegetables? We are surprised to see broccoli, baby corn, zucchini etc in our veggie biryani. The biryani rice was made to the point but it lacks authentic flavours to be honest. Entrees were fine, the paneer was hard that we are convinced the chef didn't get enough time to defrost the frozen... More

My wife and I have dined here dozens of times since Zaaffran opened over 15 years ago. In all that time, we could not recall at our lunch there again today, even one bad experience. In fact most of the time, the experience has been excellent and today's lunch was no exception. Unlike most Sydney Indian cafes, Zaaffran use first... More

We've been coming to this restaurant for years now, brought friends and family here, and it is one of our favourite places to go. Not only does it have a beautiful location at Darling Harbour and gorgeous views, but the food and service are also amazing. Really nice ambience whether you want to come as a couple, with family, or... More

My husband and I have been coming here for years, and we rate it as one of our favourites. In all of this time, the food hasn't suffered at all, it is still totally delicious (especially the beef spare ribs, do yourself a favour and have these!). It pains me to say this though that I feel the service is... More

Solo diner as my wife was away. Sampled two entrees the fish and tandoor chicken. Both were nicely presented, tasted of what they should have done and arrived in a timely fashion. The bottle of Sem/Sauv helped the experience but staff were both friendly and cheerful which is not always the case in prime tourist areas. I will be back... More

Beef ribs were burnt and the curries were very watery and plain :( I actually feel quite bad to give negative review for Zaafran because the owner was so kind and friendly.

We visited Zaaffran on a Friday evening, taking advantage of a Groupon voucher ($59 for seemingly endless courses and a bottle of wine). The on-line booking was easy and painless despite our request for a premium time slot. We asked for an all-vegetarian meal (an option which was not originally presented within the deal) and they were happy to accommodate our... More
