My partner, a friend and I went for an amazing meal on Chinese New Year. The food sells itself - there is a constant queue outside the door to get in, but we only ended up waiting about 20 minutes. The food was came out as cooked and was all very fresh. We had roti to start (buttery, original and... More

We ate here twice during our Sydney stay. Food is great – the Roti and Satay are outstanding! The Sambal Udang, Rojak and Nasi Lemak were quite good (Rojak may be overkill with peanut sauce if you are also ordering the Satay). The restaurant is BYO ($2 corkage fee per person) and while there is always a line out the... More

You can get Roti in Australia but getting good Roti is very difficult. At Mamak, we hit the Roti jackpot! It was fantastic. Freshly made, not heavy but light fluffy on the inside and a little crispy on the outside - exactly the way it should be. We also had some very good Rojak, Fish Curry, Chicken Curry and Chendol.... We visited the restaurant on a Thursday night and we couldn't be happier with our meals. Of course we had to line up to wait for a table, but fortunately it was very quick and in 30 minutes we were inside enjoying a Roti. We also had chicken satay and the sauce was very nice with lots of ginger, yummy.... More

There's just something about the hordes of people that line up for Mamak that made me even more determined to try it out. So on the last day of our tripped we ventured to Chinatown for lunch at Mamak. And we were lucky enough to get a table before the crowd quadrupled in size. I particularly enjoyed peering through the... More

Hands down, Mamak is the best Malaysian restaurant in Sydney. The roti with curry chicken is an absolute must try! It is freshly made and delicious. The nasi lemak is also very tasty. However, since its so popular, the queue to get in can get very long. The waiters/waitresses can be quite rude sometimes when it gets very busy. For... More

Been in a apart-hotel nearby for 5 nights and wondered what the queuing was about, so we took the plunge and queued for 3/4 hour in the rain ( mostly under cover) tonight (Friday) for a table for two, 7:45 until 8:30pm. No idea what to expect, but worth quizzing the regulars around you. We had a red onion and... More
