Very good

Fresh ingredients, and they make their own pasta. We go there once a month and not disappointed with the food. If you like to drink wine, bring your own glass as they only provide tumbler type glasses. You also need to bring cash, which is even harder since the nearest ATM was in the pub opposite... read more

We ate here as a family of 4. People line up to be seated at 6pm when it opens, and I can see why. It's not fancy, just delicious pasta and honest Italian delicious food done really well!

My husband and I were looking around Darlinghurst for a place to lunch and drive past Il Baretto surprisingly open for lunch. We had warm memories of the Papparadelle with Duck Ragut and the Risotto with Porcini. Either the restaurant has changed hands or the chef had a bad day as both dishes were unrecognisable and indelible. The memories are... More

The food is consistently good. It's been our family "Go to" for ever. The duck pappardelle, gnocchi Gorgonzola, bolognese simple but delicious! The panacotta to die for!

This used to be a great restaurant but sadly is no longer the case. The fried calamari starter was overcooked and consisted more of fat than calamari. The duck ragu, the restaurant's signature dish, was a few scraps of duck in a yellow gluggish flour-based sauce tossed on to some pasta. It was tasteless, lukewarm and unappealing. Even though there... More

This is a place that is not over assuming. Simple and non aggressive in its appearance or ambience it sits well within its location and entices the passer by to try and sample what it has on offer. We dined there for dinner mid week and the food was wonderful, fresh and extremely well presented and cooked. Great choice for... More

We went to Il Barretto on Saturday night, early as they don't take bookings. The food and service were excellent and we had a great evening. My son asked when we could go back soon after we left. We will certainly be returning.

went to Il Baretto for dinner on Saturday and had the most delicious meal. have been there before and the food does not disappoint. We had the calamari to start and me and my friend both had pasta dishes (from the specials menu). I had the papardelle with duck ragu and was so-ooo delicious. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough... More

This was my second visit to this restaurant, and I was not disappointed. The bruschetta was fresh and tasty and our pasta dishes were very nice. The gnocchi is hand made and definitely a step up from the ordinary. I just loved my porcini risotto. Portions are generous, but the staff are more than happy to box any leftovers. It's... More

I went there to carbo load before city to surf having not been on a Saturday night for a while. The vibe is only exceeded by the food. I loved the arabiata and a salad with rocket and parmesan. The gnocchi is also just lush...for desert I had both tiramisu and the panecotta because I couldn't decide. I still don't... More
