I've been dining at the Malaya since I was born (I'm now 25) as my parents and grandparents have dined here since it was a little restaurant in George street! The food as had the same quality for all those years and I'm never disappointed. My boyfriend and I dined here on Saturday night they were fully booked so very... More

This has to be some of the best damn Asian food available in Sydney but its not for couples. the restaurant sits 350 people and runs very efficiently. with wooden floors and no soft furnishings the acoustics are not great so its hard to have an intimate conversation. however the food is to die for, we had the 6 course... Eaten here many times and find the food to be great every time. Portion sizes are good and service admirable considering how busy the staff get in this often filled restaurant. Only complaint is that the wine is overly priced, even local wines are double what is expected, neighbouring tables suggested just ordering A glass after earlier 'topping up' in... More

This restaurant is right on the harbor and has a wonderful view. Long, interesting menu, and everything we had was excellent. Seemed like it would be a great place to get together a group of people.

I have been eating at the Malaya since it was laminited tables and plastic glasses down near Central Station. When it moved upmarket to King Street Wharf, I was worried it would lose 'it'. It never has. The food is, as always, brilliant. Simple, tasty and spicy. My all-time favourite, otak otak, is a smokey, chilli and spice laden piece... More

We had the vegetarian tasting menu for lunch at The Malaya which ran about $55 per person. It was wonderful. The service was superb. They just kept bringing out a diverse variety of South East Asian cuisine that I never experienced before. The crunchy, Szechuan eggplant was most memorable. We had enough to takeaway for another meal. The wine list was... More

I love Malaysian food and fortunately I was able to go to The Malaya. The food here is truly outstanding. The Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng, the Beef rendang, Szechuan chicken and the honey soy prawns were cooked to perfection. The view was spectacular and the service was exemplary. I love the Malaya!

This restaurant is precariously close to Darling Harbour and perched above the departure docks for several harbour cruises. The sort of place I would usually avoid. But what a great discovery. The food is wonderful; as others have written perfectly spiced and balanced flavours. The signature eggplant dish is one of the best dishes I've had in a long time.... More
