Great Malay food

Had dinner here. Got a table for 2 at the end by the window. Views over the harbour. There restaurant is huge! And a popular place as it was full and a lot of Malay diners, so that's a good sign. Staff very friendly. We did have to wait quite a white for our food but as we weren't in... read more

Visited this restaurant with a large work function on a fixed menu. The service was polite and efficient. Range of drinks was good but the choice of wines not really good particularly the quality of white wines. The food was the best Malay food I have eaten outside of Malaysia/Singapore. Beautifully spiced and flavoured and cooked exquisitely. A must visit.

The dining area is more like a large office space, set up with modern tables and chairs in a similar way to a works canteen. The view is great overlooking the Harbour, the place is buzzing if not a little noisy in a similar way to a Italian Restaurant. Service is fine but busy and rushed, food is excellent, venue... More

We did not have a reservation but the lady asked us to come back in 20 minutes which we did. We ordered Singapore Curry Fish, Duck & Mie Goreng. All 3 dishes were good with the Curry Fish & Duck really standing out for their different flavours. The wait staff were very attentive & looked after us well. Negatives :... More

went here for lunch on a weekend and had an amazing meal. We had a set meal which was very varied and quite delicious. A busy restaurant with families, nice location by Darling harbour, good service. Quite the best Malaysian food I have had on my travels, including superb sea food.

We went without a reservation and despite the crowd, they managed to seat us. The service is among the best we've had: attentive without being overbearing also helpful and humerous. Spend the money to have one of the multi-course dinners. Each dish was delicious, each dish was a different taste of the malaysian/chinese cuisine. We felt very lucky to have... More

Arrived at 8.00pm on a Friday night. The place was huge and full of people. We were taken to our table near the front of the restaurant. Great view of the harbour at night but the front of the restaurant is open air. After a few minutes started to get a bit draughty even though they have heaters When it... More

The Malaya offers an extensive menu, fantastic food and great views. We thought that it was fairly priced for Sydney. We will be back!

I have eaten at this restaurant not long ago with work and it was awesome. On the basis of this I decided to take my wife here for valentines day. what a mistake. As it was very busy we had to book by phone and pay in advance (something I have not done before) but we did this and made... More

I am old enough to remember the original Malaya in George Street where we used to go for lunch at least once a month as I worked in the area. The food was fabulous even if it tended to be a bit on the hot side and we had some rather quaint but unprintable names for the old joint. "Fancy... More
