Great views and food

We went on a busy Friday evening. The service throughout the night was fantastic even tho they were very busy. We went for the banquet meal, it didn't dissappoint. The standout dish was the Crab san choy bow....it was amazing. All of the dishes were fantastic, if you love prawns then you will... read more

Nice place, very busy great views, went on a Saturday without reservation and got in (2 people). Up front we let them know our dietary restrictions and they were able to tell us what we could and could not have and some things were adapted. It was delicious food, portions may be small for some, just right for me. Atmosphere... More

Ate lunch there. Our waiter worked w us to put together an ideal grouping of dishes. They have a seafood curry dish that uses regular milk instead of coconut and is heavenly. We also had a tofu and eggplant appetizer grilled in banana leaf. Everything had nice complex seasonings that gave authentic depth to the dishes. Will be on our... More

Really great food (and my husband and I are hard to please). Beautiful waterside view. Attentive and fun staff including great advice about wine and food from the delightful manager. One of the best restaurant experience!

Went for lunch after passing all the touristy restaurants on the water front. This restaurant is also on the front with the same views but the entrance is on the street behind the quay. Mostly business people being served at lunch time which was fine by us. We had three starters and one main between three of us which was... More

A few weeks ago, we as a group of four people, had dinner at The Malaya restaurant in Darling Harbour. I have undergone heart surgery a couple of months ago and I am still on a restricted diet. The doctors advice was to avoid liquor and reduce salt consumption. I can avoid liquor, but I have no control over the... More

A friend and I decided to have a quick early dinner at The Malaya. We arrived at 6.45 pm on a week night, to be greeted by supercilious front of house staff who seemed unable to believe we would arrive at their half-empty establishment without a reservation. We were instructed to wait on some stools at the entrance. We waited.... More

We visited this weekend for my husband's 30th. On late notice, the staff were accommodating to our table requests by the harbour and attentive throughout our meal. As always the food was exceptional - the prawn laksa is always a winner as is the beef rendang and kwai du. We LOVE the prawn sambol but this is only for Chilli... More

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
