Great food and view

The only downside of this restaurant was that we got incredibly lost getting there, a little unusual for us. However phone calls to the restaurant helped us out of our quandary and even though we got there just before the kitchen was due to close they were very helpful and sorted us out. they also... read more

Once again open after a refurbishment, it is great to have the Malaya back. As always excellent Malaysian food, with views of King Street Wharf in a buzzy yet not too loud atmosphere. Great for business or groups of friends. Bookings are essential as particularly at lunch time it fills up. The menu hasn't changed so all your old favourites... More

I've been here many, many times now, and every time I go I fall back in love with the place. Not that I ever fall out of love with it. I have brought numerous different friends, and they always enjoy the food. My family as well. If they're full when making a booking, often they'll try to arrange something for... More

I have enjoyed dining at Malaya for decades - it never disappoints. Try the Otak Otak (steaming little bundles of fish wrapped in leaf) and the prawns on lemongrass skewers for entree and then move on to one of the two Mussaman Curries (Indonesian or Malay style). The Hainan Chicken is also exceptionally good. The Malaya can get extremely busy, so... More

This Sydney hallmark restaurant , first located at the other end of town some years ago, still belts out the best beef Malaya symbol I have ever had...great if you like the heat .i also love the lemongrass seafood, a minced blend of seafood and spices wrapped around a lemongrass skewer..situated on Darling Harbour , it does get crowded, it... We have eaten at this restaurant before but not for some time and thought we'd see if there was a free table after a Vivid harbour cruise. Before we were seated I inquired about options for the celiac (gluten free) teenager with us. They had several options on the menu and were able to alter a couple of other dishes.... More

This restaurant has an excellent chef. We had a big meal in multiple courses, mainly seafood. There was an excellent vegetarian dish called sayor otak which I can recommend to vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. Service was good. There is a pleasant view over the harbour. The toilets are a little restricted in that the urinal and toilet are in... More

We dined here for my wife's birthday lunch. Firstly, we were seated in a great location overlooking Darling Harbour. Our waiter, (who was from Hawaii), made us feel welcome. Now, all meals ordered were delicious.....Sun Choy Bow was shared, great start. The Panang prawn curry was absolutely mouthwatering....the prawns melted in your mouth ! The Prawn Laksa same, same...sensational !... More

The Sichuan eggplant and Chilli prawns were fantastic, coupled with excellent table service. Highly recommended.

The food here is rich and beautifully flavoured. Service is efficient and the views across the water make for a great spot for a business lunch
