We had lunch and a dinner there. Great place and the prices are also great. This is not a fancy place. However, The owner and his staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. They make you feel very welcomed. On our first visit, we had a steamed whole fish with white rice. It was delicious. Our next visit, we ordered... More

good food at reasonable price. The duck is quite nice and the salt and pepper prawns are my favourite there, but not a must-visit place.

I ate at here three times so far, the service is average and the quality is similar to Chinese restaurants around my home – San Francisco Bay Area. The biggest advantage here is the wine list and crape style (báo bǐng) Peking duck wrapping, which is hard to find in Bay Area, I only know one in Palo Alto. The... More

I visited this institution each time visit Sydney. for the last 3 times I had dinner there, it' s always crowded and coincided with someone celebrated birthday and made disturbing noise. The price has gone up and quality was not as it used to be.

As Dante30 below says in his/her review it's a "Sydney Tradition" and I can't help but agree. Have been going to the BBQ King for over 30 years, first when I lived in Sydney in the 80s and each time I'm back in town I always drop in for some duck. It's an institution for me. The decor is appalling,... More

Used to be my favorite Chinese BBQ spot in Sydney (esp. for late night dining), but unfortunately nowadays the king presents itself as overpriced and less than delicious (had Peking Duck and was disappointed)...

We chanced our palates here due to the apparent acceptance of the joint by other renowned chefs and the like. Big mistake, the staff were hopeless, food appalling, decor depressing, attitudes dismissive and oh so hum hum. There are many more eateries in Chinatown well beyond the scope of this dump!!!

The one restaurant I will always visit when in town. Excellent food and the service not as bad as people say. Food is fresh and delivered quickly. Order the BBQ spare ribs- a true wonder!

If anyone has been to and enjoyed Wong Kei restaurant in London's Chinatown (admittedly over twenty years ago but I hear it is still the same), then you will feel at home here. Tourists glance in the window at the less than salubrious interior and walk on past. But, there is a steady stream of local Chinese coming in for... More

Seems to be living on its reputation - known to be a late night haunt of Sydney's top chefs but the food is ordinary. Have in the past enjoyed the duck and pork dishes but they had run out of the signature pork dish and we struggled to find other options. The staff had no idea of allergies and each... More
