Good food, good value, good location!

The five of us were a 'walk in' on a very wet and busy Saturday night, but they managed to rearrange some tables for us inside which was appreciated. It is a typical eatery on the east Circular Quay precinct - crowded, noisy, busy, but good. The menu is very comprehensive to the point that... read more

Was here with a big group of people ( both Chinese and Westerners) for business dinner. Obviously it is a Cantonese restaurant. As a visitor from Hong Kong, I cant say the food is very authentic at all. In general the food is average and tends to be a bit salty. But given that the outdoor seating area is facing... More

Dropped in here for a quick meal on the way to the Opera House for a show. We got a great seat outside with a fantastic view looking across to the Bridge, Luna Park and the end of the Opera House. Food was fantastic and very fresh. Surprisingly well priced given the location of the place too! I expected it... More

The freshness and the taste of the food was just amazing. Service was efficient and quick, great place for a meal before heading to the Opera House.

Having checked out the place on TA, I had reasonably high expectations of The East and fortunately I was not disappointed. Although not cheap, the restaurant boasts a good location just down from the Opera House on Circular Quay. Portions are large, food is fresh and high quality ingredients. Wine list was also surprisingly high in quality wines. No complaints... More

I'm an American who has traveled to, and eaten in at least 33 countries around the globe - and this is by far my favourite restaurant. I lived in Sydney for 3 years, and while there, ate so often at The East, they welcomed me by name. The food is consistently spectacular - I took friends, family, and clients many... More

Not your everyday “cheap Chinese” but if you are looking for good Chinese food & some people watching right in the heart of the Quay, this is excellent place to eat & spend a leisurely few hours. The service can be little slow if it’s busy but if you aren’t in a rush it’s an ideal place to just sit... More

My wife and I are regular visitors to Sydney and thought we had experienced some exceptional dining experiences in and around Sydney Harbor. However, we dined at the East Chinese Restaurant for the first time last week and were completely impressed by the absolute quality and taste of the food we were served. Amongst the dishes we ordered we had... More
