Great Japanese Food

We love coming here and last night scored the best quiet table by the window in the corner. Beautifully presented fresh portions wagyu was the best, we ordered seconds. Desert too was yum and surprisingly was a large serving. We have been here many times staff are always friendly and efficient... read more

It's a very poor food in this restaurant and they say that closes at 11:00 pm but if you go there at 9:30 pm you will just have 30 minutes to order your entire order cause they don't let you order after 10:01 pm. By the way, the fish is really hard to eat and taste like a meat and... More

Do not agree with TA evaluation. Place is indeed nice and pact, big menu to please anyones taste. Sat at the bench in front of the barbecue ( avoid that, it's very hot and dusty ). Was there with a friend and we ordered different dishes, sushi and sashimis which were brougth half an hour from the other, so each... More

This is my favorite place to come and eat when I'm visiting Sydney. The food is fresh and delicious, great to share. I highly recommend the kingfish dish. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. Try one of their cocktails.

It was my first time back after a long break as it was my favourite place (& Tokonoma next door) when I worked in the city. So many great memories filled with awesome dishes, cocktails & service. Sooo I was a little excited to go again but still wary as I really didn't want to be disappointed. Sooo glad that... More

Visited Toko in December for dinner as it was recommended and it didn't disappoint. The sashimi was amazing, so fresh and beautifully served and I found a new favourite dish in the miso aubergine. Loved it.

Sorry for the people who are complaining about this place being too loud or too busy. The reason it is both of these is because it is good. You would also probably complain that a restaurant is too quiet and lifeless. This place is alive and the energy is fantastic. I inevitably end up eating off my lap as I... More

The last time I dined at Toko was about eight years ago. The reason for my defection was my love affair with Sokyo as my preferred Japanese dining of choice in Sydney (Nobu in Melbourne). The distance in quality, ambience, texture, etc is just galaxies apart. Life is too short for sub standard Japanese. Okay to be fair, I had... More

We ate at Toko on a Thursday night. We got a spot watching the grill. It was a really busy night so service was a bit slow to start. Regardless, the food did not disappoint. Highly recommend the Sochu, signature nigiri, salmon from the grill and duck main. We asked for the best sashimi of the night, which was Toro... More
