Went to Toko last week for first time, very impressed with the food and the overall experience. Sat at the bench adjacent to where the chefs were working, so enjoyed watching that activity. Dishes included kingfish sashimi, beef, oysters, asparagus, lamb cutlets and a couple of other things. Lamb cutlets were delicious. Perhaps not cheap, but felt the bill was... More

Very very good venue, great atmosphere and excellent food make this a restaurant well worth visiting. Stand outs were the Toko rolls (particularly the minced tuna, chilli mayonnaise, inside out, tenkasu which we reordered TWICE!)

This gets far more hype than it deserves. Plain decore, workmanlike service and food that tries hard to be as trendy as the venue but is good without being great. I had the mixed sushi and it was nothing special. Kingfish sashimi was quite good. Worst thing is the long shared communal table. Not enough separate tables along the side.... More

Booked this for a special night out with friends visiting from interstate, and wanted a place with great friendly atmosphere and special food. This was a winner on all those fronts. It is a bit on the expensive side, and very popular and busy on a Friday night, but that's what you expect here. Best dishes of the night -... More

I took my daughter to dinner here for her birthday and we had the degustation menu which provided a good cross section of the range of food available at Toko. We sat at the counter where the sushi and sashimi was prepared and this was an experience in itself as watching the food being prepared and then having it served... More

Nearly every menu item at Toko is amazing. From the sashimi plates to the edamame beans, to the tofu, to the variety of sushi rolls. I can't think of a better place in Sydney for great sushi and a vibrant atmosphere. One thing I would suggest would be to order the Dassai Sake. While it is a little on the... More

My wife and I came to Australia for our honeymoon and were made aware of Toko by some locals who said that we must check it out. Despite rave recommendations (and reviews here on Tripadvisor), I have to say that the restaurant fell flat. A lot. Reasons for a 2-star rating: - inconsistent service and timing: we ordered the Sora... More

Except for the size of the venue and the presence of some Australian staff, the fit out could almost transport you to Tokyo. A great range of seating options from comfortable couches, to individual tables, shared bench seating and sushi counter style. Welcome was pleasant and service and timing of meals generally good but started to fall off a bit... More
