Fantastic flavours, with a 'funky' ambience

After a memorable meal at Longrain Melbourne earlier this year, we were curious to compare the Sydney version. The interior layout, with a mix of long communal and large circular tables, is similar - and not always the most comfortable or convenient (for we older traditionalists...) However, the... read more

We dined at Longrain as a group of 5, to celebrate a birthday. I have been a Longrain regular for many years, but after last night I won't be back, even though the food is very good. I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable or unwelcome in a restaurant. As soon as we declined dessert (because we wanted... More

I was a bit disappointed with my experience after reading all the rave reviews of this restaurant. The food was very good - favourite dishes were the betel leaves and the eggnet - but for the price I probably wouldn't go again. The atmosphere also wasn't as nice as I had hoped - the tables are long so that other... More

After a memorable meal at Longrain Melbourne earlier this year, we were curious to compare the Sydney version. The interior layout, with a mix of long communal and large circular tables, is similar - and not always the most comfortable or convenient (for we older traditionalists...) Wow! Delicious food, different and exciting menu, fantastic presentation! It's advisable to book as it's often hard to get a table apparently. Luckily our daughter had been there before so could recommend an assortment of dishes for sharing, otherwise we might have been a bit lost. Everything we had was delicious from the caramelised ham hocks, the Asian greens to... More

Came here for a late dinner a couple of weeks ago. The dish of the night was the eggnet, very tasty especially with the sauce. A bit disappointed with the caramelised pork hock as I thought it would be a whole hock but it was only cut into little cubes so it was a bit dry. The food was generally... More

We went mid week and were able to book. I gather they didn't use to take bookings but have changed this policy. We chose the 2 small entrees on leaves which were full of flavour, and then the eggplant salad, silken tofu and stir fried veges. The tofu was the hit - sensational! A must choice! We also ordered virgin... More

A great place to go with a group of friends so you can try everything! Despite the sharing tables and tapas style food, the service was excellent. Don't miss out on the Egg net or the Lamb Massaman!

The longrain is a restaurant quite close to the Sydney Central Station in a small side street. The Asiatic infused food is simply delicious and affordable - the menu contains something for everyone with daily changing fish specials! The restaurant itself is spacious and modern. The staff are professional, very friendly and helpful! Extra wishes are never a problem! One... More

There was a big group of us (10 pax) and we has to take the banquet menu according to the restaurant Starters were oysters and a papaya/mango salad in betel leaf. I don't know why a fresh oyster is on the menu in a Thai restaurant . The bean sprout salad which came next was very good. Then came the... More
