Mussels from Brussels

Went for the moules frites, stayed for the beer, will come back for the waiter from Toulouse who knew just what to recommend for the grown-ups and was firm friends with the kids by the end of the meal. A great family night out.

I dined here with my friend yesterday because she knew they do a $10 discount on musselpots every Wednesday. How did I not know about this place, and their mussels. Waiters recommend a beer match depending on your taste, great atmosphere. Will definitely return.

I have to admit that I love Mussels. My wife and i went here while in Sydney. It is in a beautiful old building, very nicely renovated. We found the service excellent. the waiter came right over and started suggesting beers. As we are very familiar with Belgium beers we had a great conversation about different choices. We both had... I was really looking forward to this place as it was in a wonderful old building with lots of charm and character, but that is where the enjoyment ended. The service was terrible, we had to get our own menus as no one came near our table, we seemed to be invisible? The menus are really ratty and old and... More

Had to meet some friends at the Heritage Belgian Beer Café on Saturday. Where? I said. Harrington St Sydney. Well this is an interesting place and it has a history, relative to the friends I was meeting. So this place has a pretty good restaurant and prices are a little lower than the other establishments nearby in the Rocks, although... More

Have been twice in the last 6 months, both times on a Wednesday for the mussels and chips on special. The mussels are great but on the last visit the chips had morphed into non Belgian frites! I'm hoping it was a once-off aberration. Kriek beer for me and a reasonable, but not great, selection of Belgian beers from which... More

On my latest business trip to Sydney I again went to the Heritage Belgian Beer Cafe - actually twice. I went the first night I was there and had fish and chips and then ten days later for my last dinner before heading back the the USA. This time I had a burger. In both cases I was pleased with... Leffe and Hoegaarden on tap, but the Stella needed retapping and apparently it wasn't worth doing it as it looked like being a quiet night :-( Met for a work dinner, and this place certainly works well for that. Big, reasonably roomy, and not too noisy (at least tonight, when it was not too busy either). Dinner itself was disappointing.... More

Beer is good but the food is no good - the chips were good but the vol au vent was dry as were the doughnuts.

The food was really good. Enjoyed the mussels wednesdays, but I had to remind them on the special after charging me full price. Sounds dodgy. Did not have most of the beers available in the drinks menu.
