In desperate need of Chinese food, we relied on research which steered us to Golden Century which is frequently sited by publications and locals as the best Chinese food in Sydney. We made a 9pm reservation on a Saturday night and when we arrived, we could barely squeeze through the throng of people crowding the entrance. The hostess was literally... More

It is hard to go wrong for chinese food in this area of Sydney, but the Golden Century stands out. It reminded us of the Hoover Sky in Hong Kong where we ate regularly in the 1960s and is possibly better than the Peking Gourmet in Virginia - our local favorite. Try the clams and shrimp.

Good food, but extremely over priced! If you love seafood, you will be impressed by the selection, but highly disappointed by their high prices. However, the service is good and the food is also very good. Expect to wait fifteen to thirty minutes for a table if you did not make a reservation. The place has two levels. Both levels... More

This place is Chinese all the way, from the crowds and the bustling around, to the good food. We had to wait a while to get in, probably due to overflowing crowds for Chinese New Year. Service very fast---appetizers came within 10 minutes. The menu is very long and a little daunting but with helpful pictures. Main dish came in... More

Chinese cuisine is up my alley so I'm particularly picky. To impress me, you got to be good. This place has got pretty good service after you figure out what to converse in. Some staff are Cantonese and some are mandarin so switch accordingly. We ordered a serving of har gou and siew mai. Both were poorly done. Thick and... More

We were in the mood for some mud crab and XO sauce pippies, so we stopped by Golden Century on Sussex St for a feed. The firm "you want tea?" and then served, may be taken as quite pushy since it was not busy, but upon hearing it when the restaurant got busier just meant it must be a cultural... More

Christmas Day lunch feast for 6. Just the freshest seafood plus a whole Barramundi! Quick, polite service and cold beer and some very nice wine. An excellent choice and, having eaten here before I'll just keep coming back when in Sydney.

This is an authentic old style Chinese with very good food and excellent customer service. Waiters arrive and leave magically and are so polite and gracious, we leave a big tip always.

Sydney institution and one of the best spots in Chinatown for fresh seafood, not cheap but worth it for the overall experience and great food!
