Interesting flavours, interesting price

We ate at Charr with friends while visiting Sydney in early April. I think it must have changed the menu from some of the earlier reviews because there was a distinct and flavoursome tapas leaning to the menu and the main dish we had of the wagyu steak skewer was a winner. The decor seemed fine to... read more

Charr is an oasis amidst noisy overpriced competitors. It is spacious and quiet, and the service is unobtrusive. The food was delicious and sensibly priced.

The food here is very very good. Unfortunately it is let down by a space that is not great. There were only around 7 or 8 people there the night we were there and the marble floors and hard surfaces everywhere made it somewhat noisy. The food though was well worth it. The Skewers are presented beautifully hanging above the... More

Chosen for the menu, we enjoyed the food immensely. The wait staff lady was gorgeous, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a classy venue and not too expensive.

Located on Level 1 of the Amora Hotel on Jamison, the setting is contemporary. There aren't a huge array of menu items but enough to please most tastes. The soup of the day was huge and good value and the roasted duck nicely done with the most scrumptious rhubarb relish!!!!

I’m still amazed when I visit the Amora Jamison that Charr is often relatively uninhabited. It seems hotel patrons and Sydney-siders are simply unaware that this restaurant even exists. In all the meals I’ve had here over the past ten years I’ve never had a bad one. True some have been better than others, but all have been far from... More

We had the pork belly and venison. Pork belly undercooked, skin not crispy, fat not rendered out. potato was RAW, peas average, not enough sauce, pasta piece was RAW. Horrible dish. Venison was cooked alright, onions were RAW, bacon was poor quality and mainly fat. Flavors didn't work well at all. Bad dish. At $43 a dish, this was disgraceful.... More

I recommend this place highly for their steaks which I rate higher than some of the Sydney specialist steak houses. The ribeye fillet is the most tender and tasty I have tasted for some time. This is a small restaurant but with unassuming prompt service. Great place for a quiet dinner after work or before a show. It is unfortunate... More
