I have been coming to Bar Italia when the pasta cost about $8.00. The service and food has not changed, which is a good thing as they have really good pasta and coffee. Having tried many items over the years, we now stick to the Bar Italia Special, Bolognese (really lovely & tomatoey), marinara and eggplant pasta. We always have... More

If I could rate the place higher, I probably would.... The home of a real Terror-Missu.... I find the Bar Italia tiramisu hard to resist. Far to much cream and mascarpone for my Doctor to allow - so I just don't tell him, I might admit to a single cannoli ... I have also tried the chocolate mousse and enjoyed... More

This old Inner West icon has been a point of social reference for at least four decades on Leichhardt's Norton Street. The old man has grown tired and has decided to retire. He has sold out to a Greek restauranteur from up the road. The question is: can he do it? Can he pull off what Bar Italia is? This... More

Popped in for lunch - we had the two different pasta dishes, garlic bread and a side salad - perfect combo! Really enjoyed every mouthful. We headed off for a walk with take away coffees from Bar Italia - really good and then had to duck back in for gelato! We will be back - thanks guys - great Sunday... More

sure some people may like the Gelato.... others the Cannoli... but screw any thought of a diet and have the best Tiramisu in the world. I am not even Italian but I wish I was... A great and crazy restaurant - forget asking for flavoured coffee and soy - You are in Italian central, take the great coffee that is... More

Went he for gelato after dinner. It's still tastes amazing! Nothing has changed since I was a kid (it's a good thing!) and used to get brought here on special occasions, so many memories and such great gelato!

We went there for the Gelato and I have been recommended to visit this place by a friend. Certainly a good decision, it has this family feeling inside the shop, very cosy and warm service (ladies behind the gelato bar) I ordered a Tiramisu and WOW…definitely I am going back there again for Tiramisu. I have tasted the Panna Cotta... More

You go here because it's an absolute Sydney institution. It's been a cafe for over forty years and little has changed about the place. You'll have to queue to place your order and you'll have to be ready to say your order by the time you reach the counter. No humming and haahhing. It's a little along the lines of... More

We only ever come here for the Gelato which is the best gelato i've tasted outside of Italy. It's actual real gelato and delicious, not those flavoured ones you get in other places. The pistachio gelato is my favourite. The decor is a bit old, but doesn't matter too much for having gelato.

We've been coming here for years and never thought to do a review. Recently dropped by with a work colleague, en route to collect his car and thought we'd swing by for a coffee and a cannoli. Now all you half double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon or soybean juice or skim milk drinkers can STOP RIGHT HERE.... More
