Pasta Perfecto! Gelato Bellissiomo!

Join the gelato conga line! It's worth the wait. Loving the quick and simple pasta meals at a reasonable price. Great coffee. Smiling, friendly and fast service. This place is my fave in Leichardt. If you want 5 star dining this is not the place. But if you want fast, friendly, honest, home style... read more

If you enjoy lashings of homophobia served up with your tortillini then Bar Italia is the place for you. Be prepared to be villified or abused if you are GLBTI as this is their specialt

My partner & I went to Bar Italia for 25 respective 13 years, at least once a fortnight. My preferred dishes were Pasta Bar Italia and Tortellini alla Panna. Tonight, Friday, March 20, 2015, we went with our dearest friend (again) to Bar Italia, as usual on Friday night. The first dish served was Tortellini alla Panna WITHOUT the cream... More

Have been going here for years and always enjoy the pasta, and the gelato is great! I feel you don't get quite as much for your money as you used to but I guess that is happening everywhere. I love the tuna fusilli the best!

I have been going here for a few years because of the coffee. So good and so strong. A few weeks ago it changed and every coffee has been weak. It tastes like warm milk.

I have been a loyal customer of Bar Italia for over 30 years, even remembering the original owners, the Scandura family. For the last 20 years, every time I would visit I would have their siganture dish - Spaghetti Bar Italia. It's a combination of spaghetti, prawns, chilli, bacon and garlic. It has always been an amazing dish and even... More

This is one of the oldest restaurants in Australia but the new owners have ruined the once reliably good meals on offer. We ordered two pasta dishes that to be frank were absolutely awful. The spicy special seemed to be missing the chili and the vegetarian pasta completely lacking any flavour at all. How sad. How hard could it be... More

This restaurant has a rustic charm which I hope doesn't get swallowed up in our ever changing plastic swanky world. It has lasted the tests of time to date and so may it continue. From the chaotic way you order your meal to the cash only register, to the faded plastic furniture wobbling on the uneven floor. I love it.... More

Have been eating here on and off for many years but it has turned a little stale. Had the regular Bar Italia with fettuccine but it was over spiced with chilli and not enjoyable. Others in the group ordered different sauces but they all tasted pretty much the same and loaded up with chilli. The service was also pretty rude.... More
