Best gelato in Sydney

For me the best way to judge a gelato is always by ordering classic flavours like pistachio or lemon and based on this Rivareno is hands down the best gelato in Sydney.

Being the gelato enthusiast that I am, this place came highly recommended to me by a friend. I couldn't have been more bitterly disappointed. It's an exceptionally rare thing for me to say I couldn't finish a meal, but like some of the other criticisms posted here, this gelato was actually sickening. I don't think it's because the gelato is... More

So, my wife and I visited in May. It was so extraordinary that when we arrived in Sydney yesterday, before even checking in to our hotel, we took our kids to Rivareno. We were not disappointed! Our kids, who have eaten gelato around the world, including some of the best in Italy, agree that this is the best we've all... More

Walked past this shop and noticed a guy hand dipping the gelato cones in chocolate so I definitely had to try one. Quite surprised the cost was only $4 for a hand made hand choc dipped icecream. I was tempted to get two but considering i had already eaten dinner and dessert this was probably going overboard. Opted for the... More

I don't know why but for some reason Ive always vetoed this place. Recently I gave it a try and was blown away. Its easily the best gelato Ive had outside of Italy. Im not sure why messina gets ridiculously long queues over this, because this is better ice cream (and messina is still really great!) It's very similar to... More

This is where you can get the best authentic gelato in Sydney! Just like they do back in Italy (according to my 1st generation italian friend who brought me here). We had the limone (deliciously refreshing and sour), the caramelised fig (creamy & sweet!) and the amarenata croccante (very unique - I like it). Unfortunately, the music is very annoying... More

i'm Italian and 3rd generation of chef and pastry chef, i can only say that if you want a real gelato you have to come and have it here. All other ice cream shops in Sydney (talking about chains and some of those claim to be Italian) are not even closer to something authentic, their preparation is based on the... More

Forget the competition on Crown Street, this is the place to go. Real Italian gelato, genuinely made on the premises (you can see the machinery). The flavours are creative, you can sample as much as you want, and when the batch is finished, it's finished!! The servers are patient and helpful (and Italian - mostly). We often finish the night... I'm an Italian girl and I contacted RivaReno Gelato to make a delivery for my boyfriend that's now in Sydney. Kieran answered me in a few hours and took my request really seriously :) He delivered the icecream in the day and time I asked it for and my boyfriend told me that it was as good as the italian... Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighborhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
