Interesting

You wouldn't even know this place exists, down a dark lane, no signs, just security and garbage bins. As you go downstairs into a dank cellar it's only then that you firstly see the packed crowd, and then the two walls of whisky. As another reviewer said it's almost speakeasy style but I'm sure... read more

You really need to search to find this place but it's worth looking for. Make sure you get there early and grab a seat at the bar. It's good fun to sit and watch all the different drinks being made. Who knew there were so many different whiskeys? Something different in the middle of the city. A real old fashioned... More

If you like whisky and bartenders with beards and secret speakeasys, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you will love this place.

Hidden away but worth finding. Visited with friends who live in Sydney. One in one out queuing system. That's how popular this place is. Never seen anything quite like the range they have on offer. Really quirky theme! A whisky drinkers dream come true. Needless to say I had a banging headach the following morning but I'm blaming that on... More

We had seen this bar written about in the UK's Daily Telegraph. Clarence St in Sydney was no problem but there is no signage whatsoever for Baxters itself. We went down an alleyway and into a buzzing bar that awaits at the end in a courtyard only to find that this is not Baxters. It is in fact the Barbour... More

Maybe groovy is the wrong word. Well hidden! What a little gem! Let the bartenders advise you on what you should try. I prefer everything neat with a water on the side. Yeah, a bit pricey. But it is all good. Real candles on the tables and the wall. Atmosphere is awesome. Quite crowded on a Friday night. Check it... More

The Baxter Inn opened nearby my office and word of mouth spread fast; the bar is a speakeasy hidden from view, you only know it's there if you 'know a guy'. The bar itself is one of the best in Sydney; 1930's themed with highly knowledgeable bar staff who love what they do. The selection of whisky is world class... More
