Fantastic - better than expected

My family dragged me there as I do not normally eat asian food. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. I will definitely go back again.

I was very excited about all the reviews and happy I was going to have dinner there. The service was good but I found the menu bit confusing, some of the food description was hard to understand, lots of japanese words and we were not sure how much food would be enough for 2 and the waitress was not so... Stayed at The Darling and had breakfast at Sokyo. Opted for a traditional Japanese breakfast and I was not disappointed. The food and service were both sensational.

Went here for my birthday, it didn't disappoint. Everything was delicious! Our favorites: moreton bay bug tempura, scallop tempura w/ caviar, and wagyu beef tenderloin. Umami! Their orange & ginger mocktail is very refreshing. We wanted to try hibiscus, but unfortunately it's not available. Dessert has a good selection, we went for Yuzu Souffle and coffee ice cream. Next time... More

Went for the pre 6pm start $55 pre set chefs menu. The sushi was ok, the char grilled prawns and beef were deliciously smokey with great sauces (the prawns personal face, so greasy and flavoursome) the tempura was average and the caramel espresso dessert was cute but by no means spectacular. The service on the other hand was on-point. I... More

Our jaw dropped every time our dishes were presented, unfortunately not due to the lovely favour but the size of it - they were minuscule. Dont be deceived by the reasonable price on the menu. The cost doesn't justify the serves , admittedly favour was good, eg 3 stalks of asparagus (cut into 6 pieces) cost $11 and one small... More

Went for the 3 course lunch special which included a miso soup, salad (lettuce) and a dish from each raw, tempura and hot selection. All were of high quality and tasted amazing! The highlight would have been the red snapper tempura, followed closely by the salmon and tuna. Only issue was they forgot our other tempura dish which then came... More

The restaurant didn't want kids as they wanted to push us away and not serve us until we said where are other very good restaurants in the area then they said that they will find us a seat in a half empty restaurant. Service was horrible and worst of all they acted like the kids were purely dirt. The food... More

Being huge Japanese food fans, Sokyo did not disappoint. The food was sensational, as were the cocktails. Can't wait to go back.
