The skewered beef and lamb chops were absolutely fantastic. Having been to Japan six or seven times, I found the nigiri sushi rice disappointing lacking moisture and flavour. The fish was of good quality and flavour, but the nigiri were on the small side and fish thickness was undersized. Also, why does the restaurant insist on loud music to create... More

Rated 10 of more than 5000 Restaurants in Sydney, we surely came with a great expectation. The Service was attentive and fast, even too fast sometimes as plates were taken from the table without the Food actually all eaten. It is a way busy restaurants make room for the next guests. We ordered short ribs, lamb chops, and several Sushi's... More

Interesting take on japanese food. You had to order one dish from each section to truly experience the food style, which was guided by our hostess. And it tasted sooo good!

Headed here on a working holiday with no reservations. We were sat up at the bar watching the chefs make sushi. Our host was lovely and beyond helpful with setting us up with dishes. We put our choices in her hands and she did not disappoint. All dishes were fresh, tasted amazing and were just the right size. The saki... More

I visited Sokyo a few days ago for a friend's birthday lunch and we were amazed by the food and quality of service there. The food was fantastic, the ambience was great and the staff was extremely friendly. We bought a birthday cake from another pastry shop but dropped it en route. The cake was ruined. The pastry chef of... More

This is an excellent restaurant. Food was very good and service was attentive and informed (which is always a good start). The fish that we had - Kingfish sashimi and Miso cod were the stars of the show, the Beef Robata and Pork Belly, were good, but definitely second place to the fish. Dessert was surprisingly good. The service was... More

Wait til the night falls... that's when the action starts... here at Sokyu. Under the Robata section, you have got to try the nicest char grilled pork belly I've ever had. That was easily the best dish I had that evening, and the irony is that this reviewer is known to refuse pork (mostly because I don't like the smell... More

I have been to this restaurant twice since it opened and my experiences had always been excellent! The ingredients were fresh, the food was cooked to such a high level of standard, and the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, we never had to keep trying to get someone's attention. They would clear the tables quickly after a dish... More
