I have never been a fan of Japanese food or fish, so I was not really expecting to like this restaurant, but I loved it, even the sashimi and things. It was so different to run of the mill Japanese places I have tried and disliked before. It was beautiful. The service was impeccable - both friendly, helpful and incredibly... More

Since it was the first visit, we asked Chef to pick the menu for us. We were seated in front of Chef Chase Kojima at the sushi bar. We started with tai crab and yuzu honey scallop, then moved to main course, dengakuman miso cod fish, robata pork belly skewer and lamp chop. The food presentation was unique and fantastic.... More

Sokyo restaurant is a must visit once experience. My wife and I visited last night and were amazed at the whole experience. The decor is incredible, service impeccable, and food is mind blowing. Don't bother ordering, our waitress asked what we don't like, recommended the omakase menu and the dishes just kept coming out. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic dinner at Sokyo. Started with nice and fresh Pacific oyster with Kyoto baby pear and ginger vinaigrett. Followed by a small dish of kingfish miso ceviche with very thin and crispy potyato on top, very nice texture. Hokkaidoscallops were fresh and lovely with those little miso flakes and tomato dices decorating. Dengakuman is a quiet facinating dish, caramelised... More

We love interesting food done well in general and we love the country of Japan. We eat Japanese food a lot both in Japan and in other places in the world. Sokyo was polished and clever. The service was faultless. The waiters were quick and attentive and the food was fresh fresh fresh! Brilliant all around and certainly struck us... More

Omakase - we had the Omakase menu and it was fantastic .my favourite dish was the pan seared scallop, scorched sweetcorn & yuzu honey sauce. All these beautiful dishes were gluten free , it's great to be able to have all of this & suit my dietary needs. The staff were great , excellent service, decor and vibe of the restaurant... More

Went for my birthday dinner with my partner. Service was very good. Food was great, everything was very tasty and full of flavour. Had Japanese dishes that I have never had before and loved each one. Recommend for a special occasion!

Recently we shared a lovely evening with a small group of friends there. The food was excellent and reasonably priced for the high quality, taste and presentation. It was very popular quite hard to get in without a booking at least one day in advance. Busier times I would suggest a week in advance. I will definitely will return. The... More

If you have decided to have a treat, this rest was the best Japanese I ever had, staff was friendly and efficient. VERY expensive but worth it, if it makes sense... Try the crunchy rice nigiri tuna!!

Wow! How this place wasn't awarded a 'hat' or two in this years SMH Good Food Guide is a mystery. Kingfish cervice, wagyu tenderloin, Queensland and spicy tuna rolls were all absolute knockout dishes. As good as anything in Sydney. Good wine list with excellent knowledgable service. Go now. Once they get their hat(s) it'll be so much harder to... More
