If you read my previous reviews, you will see that I am a generous reviewer. I wish, however, that I had been a little more discerning about who I gave 5 star ratings to because Absinthe Salon is head and shoulders above any other place I have ever visited. Absinthe Salon has a gothic Victorian atmosphere. You'll recognise it by... More

Around 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon my girlfriend and I decided to make a stop at a place we had read online about for a while, the Absinthesalon. With walls and a barred door all painted in black it already fitted the gothic image the website portrayed and when we went to open the door it was locked... Had the... More

I came here with two friends on a Friday night. Despite not having a reservation, the three of us got a table right away. The decor is amazing. It feels like a French cafe with a dark twist reminiscent of Halloween. The owner was a wealth of knowledge & interesting to talk to. He recommended the slightly less strong absinthe... More

We have been here many times and have always enjoyed the experience and service from the owners Gaye, Joop and their team. They have a fantastic variety of absinthes and are very knowledgeable and passionate about the different varieties they serve. Based on our experience at the Absinthe salon, where it is served here in the internationally recognised manner, we... More

An extremely disappointing experience. I've been an absinthe drinker for 14 years and know just how I like it: served without water and sugar. When I arrived and requested a neat absinthe, the owner flatly refused and he was quite aggressive about the matter. I have experienced snobbery within the food and drink industry, but this level of snobbery is... More

Wow, I'm not sure what I expected but this was certainly an experience. There were 7 of us, we were "buzzed in" once our reservation was confirmed and we were escorted through to the Salon. I felt like I was in a scene from Underbelly. What a step back in time ! The whole experience was terrific fun. The staff... More

Not the place if you're looking for a rowdy night (as were some of our sullen neighbours on the next table), but a fantastic experience and some great tasting absinthes can be found here. Highly recommend it to any travellers to Sydney

A small intimate area in the back of an old terrace tastfuly decorated. After checking the place out on the net thought we would give it a go on a recent trip to Sydney. Found it a delight and the theatre of it all was fantastic. Right from having to buzz in through the wrought iron gates to the whole... More
