Every single flavour I've tried at Gelato Messina has been delicious. It's also surprisingly good value and the ever-changing flavour combinations keep me and my family coming back regularly -- even though it requires a trip over the bridge! The problem I have now is that it's ruined other gelato/ice cream for me -- if it's not Messina, I don't... More

It was a very hot day, and after spending three and a half hours at the aquarium (which did not appear to have air conditioning), we were more than ready for an ice cream. As it was still school holidays, there was quite a queue. However, the staff were efficient, and the queue moved quickly. There was an enormous choice... More

You might have to wait but boy will it be worth it. A huge range of innovative flavours with true quality tastes, none of your imitation syrups here. Grab a cup with a couple of choices and head across to the little park. It is a perfect Sydney experience.

Gelato Messina has continued to grow and innovate as a dessert innovator. I've sampled their delicious cakes, mouth-watering gelato and dessert bar offerings. They never disappoint and are a regular stop off after a late night meal. Cannot recommend them enough. Definitely worth following them on Facebook so you don't miss out on their next tasty treat. I know I... More

I was disappointed to see that there was not cassata gelato as the name of the shop let you think about sicilian flavours.

The gelato always tastes good at Messina - you have to try their own store mixed flavours of the week, they have some interesting combinations of flavour and texture but you can always guarantee that they will be great

I went in when it wasn't crazy busy with the line up and the man who served me was super friendly and lovely and gave me a little taste of a few flavours so I could best make my choice as it was my first time will definitely go again

Their ice cream cakes for a birthday in summer are perfect! Absolutely delicious! Downside ... A bit too pricy for a large crowd and no options for people with dairy allergies!

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighborhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
