Basement bar

Love the nooks, booths and tiny rooms here AND the cocktails. Re-visited taking girlfriends who loved the ambiance. Went early before the crowd and enjoyed my favorite cocktail of this bar - the Carlos Estevez.

The bar decor and concept is really what makes this worth visiting. The food was quite nice but found the curly fries to be under seasoned and my burger was burnt. The service to begin with was very friendly but got less successful as the evening progressed - to the point where only one of the four staff actually acknowledged... More

If you were just looking at the pics..well forget about them! there is nothing like that anymore. Burgers are now presented with some low/average burger bread and some yard grass as side dish. The hand-cut potatoes are not that good either: it looks like they were fired and refried over again…you could barely eat one without feeling sick. Plus service... More

Get the cheese burger! Music is loud so hard to talk and have a quiet dinner but if you don't mind noise - this is a cool basement bar that's worth a visit

Fabulously cool little underground bar on York street. The entrance is filled with a wall of small sewing machine replicas - they look like they come from some vintage department store display stock! And for good measure a real antique singer sewing machine stands in the foyer. Step through the swinging doors & carefully make your way down the steps... More

After fitting out the place so well, getting the music and vibe right, why would you have such rubbish staff? Seated, we are told not to get up, orders would be taken from the table. OK, give us a minute to check the cocktail list. OK ready to order... just gotta get her eye. She is looking at us, great.... More

You know you've found this place when you see the wall of old sewing machines - very cool. There was a wait for a table but they handled the waitlist well. Great range of cocktails available. The food was great. The burgers and hot dogs coming out looked amazing.

I've loved this place since it opened. The atmosphere great, look fantastic, feel and food everything is good, at great selection of drinks and the sort of barmen who can make a drink for indecisive people based on a few questions about what they like and host mood they're in.

My friend and I visited Stitch for a few drinks last weekend, and it was fabulous. The staff are friendly, the vibe is very cool, and the setting with singer sewing machines is very clever. Well worth checking out.

This team has built a great bar and then let it be ruined by terrible staff. Slow service, and they brought the wrong drink three times. To top it off they charged us for the mistakes! Many better bars nearby that deserve your time and attention, give this one a wide berth.

Thank Happy C

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
