Tucked away on Kendall lane, the oldest laneway in The Rocks, The Fine Food Store has been a much-loved favourite of locals for over 10 years. Recently revealing its Brooklyn-inspired renovation, this cool and contemporary cafe offers a succinct menu of fresh and tasty offerings from braised-pork sliders to salmon gravlax with fennel salad. They pride themselves on the highest standard in coffee, from cold brewed to single origin espresso - to be enjoyed at a picturesque window seat or to-go when you're on the run. Now open nights, Weds to Sat from 4 to 10pm serving tapas style bar plates, select wine & tap beer.

Great food & great value

Had breakfast here. Really good choice of dishes (plenty of healthy options too), and a lovely chilled vibe about the place. Price wise - given it's location (in the heart of The Rocks near Sydney Bridge) it's really good value & would definitely suit people travelling on a budget. It would be a... read more

After reading rave reviews on Foursquare, i decided to try this for brunch. We ended up spending a lot of money on 4 dishes cause the portions were really small. The service was also slow. The funny bit is that my first glass of Elderflower tea was delicious and magnificent. But the second one seemed to have made in a... More

This place was recommended by the Four Season concierge and it did not disappoint. Unique dishes and very tasty. The coffee was great and a big cup. We will go back for the Belgian waffle that they were out of after the Australian Day crowd. Highly recommend

I loved the vide here, very chilled and deco was very relaxed. It's the sort of place I could spend all morning in having breakfast, drinking coffee and reading the paper. My husband the hyped over bean dish and totally loved it! I had breakfast bap and it was great. Everything is cooked healthily, and served well. I will def... More

Although I suspect if we did tell everyone, the staff would still handle the hordes with aplomb. I wasn't sure if it was just a trick of the light but despite the hectic pace and the location bang in the midst of tourism central the staff made us feel as though we were regulars attending our neighbourhood cafe. The meals... More

Having been on an early morning run, we decided we deserved something good for breakfast & having checked trip advisor we decided upon this. Wow, what a decision. Simply stunning food - The spicy beans and poached eggs were amazing. As others have said, finding this place is well worth it and it's only seconds from the well-beaten tourist paths....

Hidden down a lane way past Argyle street (full of tourists) is this friendly, value for money cafe. You may have to share a table but it is worth it. The sandwiches looked amazing, my quinoa salad was delicious and my partner had blue cheese tart (the only concern was maybe a bit too much beetroot piled on top which... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
