Nice dinner inside an old bank building

We tried 2nd of the Neil Perry empire earlier we tried Rockpool est 1989 fairly enjoyed it. Bar and Grill also fine dining setting but without the table cloth to us not as elegance as est 1989. Food was very nice we tried the 36 months rib eye steak with bone and the steak was tender and tasty... read more

I thought this was the less fancy cousin of Rockpool but upon re-reading the guidebook, I see that I was mistaken. I immediately got the "fancy" vibe as we arrived and also the "we're underdressed" feeling. Service was a little snooty, perhaps because we weren't dressed up. It warmed up once they realized we still could use our manners. Had... More

I've been wanting to come here for years, so as a special occasion for mine, and a friend who was also over from the UK who's birthday it also was, it was a perfect special treat. The pre- dinner drinks were stunning as was the dining room. Of course we went for the steaks and weren't disappointed. Great service, food... More

This is the third time I have been to Rockpool Bar and Grill, I have been going every year since I first went. To commence, in terms of food, the goats cheese ravioli was as good as always, my favourite dish by far. However, this visit was of a lower quality than the previous visits. The service was particularly lacking... More

My oh my, Rockpool really pulled all the strings to make out night such a memorable one. I had the Wagu 9+ rib eye which was to die for and was perfectly matched by one of the many knowledgeable sommeliers on hand. The restaurant is in an old bank which made it quite the experience and the wine list is... More

My son had saved his first wages and chose the Rockpool restaurant to treat us. We were not disappointed. The venue is amazing, marble pillars and beautiful decor. It was originally a bank and it has been restored to a very high standard. The food was incredible. My starter of asparagus with a hot cheese was divine and a huse... More

We have been looking forward to dining at this restaurant for a while and finally found the time to dine here, only to be left disappointed. The place is beautiful, the staff and service was amazing, the food was a real let down. I ordered Silk handkerchief Pasta with Pesto, ricotta and cherry tomatoes, the pasta was cold and in... More

Fantastic atmosphere and excellent service in a restored Art Deco building. There are three seating areas and we were fortunate enough to be seated in a small semi-private room so we could easily chat. There is also a fantastic balcony that I'll request next time. The main floor is beautiful. The wine list was impressive and we selected a nice... More

We've wanted to come here for ages and finally able to fit it pin on this trip. The restaurant itself is situated in a beautiful Art Deco building. The food was cooked and presented beautifully and our menu choices not smothered with unnecessary sauces so you got the true taste of the product. Service impeccable yet discreet. Not cheap but... Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
