Given this pub won 2 awards from TimeOut Sydney we thought we should give it a try. Unfortunately, I found some plastic from a broken food container in my gnocchi. They refunded my meal, and took my email address promising they would be in touch. However, it has been several weeks and I've heard nothing. I understand that mistakes happen,... More

We nearly didn't go due to some recent negative views but having now been, feel that some previous reviewers just don't like change. We experienced excellent food and attentive service in the restaurant area and had a wide range of craft beers to choose from in the bar area.

I used to love this place. Great food and a great pint of Guinness. It was the perfect "local". But new owners have changed the feel and Guinness has been replaced with $9 a schooner craft beer. It is a shame...Goodbye Welcome. At least we have our memories...

Have been to The Welcome a couple of times in the past and loved the comfort Irish themed food. Went today with the expectation of some bangers and mash or rissoles and found the menu totally different. Closest item was sausage with polenta :-( Food was ok interior has lost its charm. Probably won't be coming back.

It pains me to say, but I don't like the Welcome any more. I have been an on and off regular at this pub and restuarant for nearly 20 years. We actually remember when the current dining room was created and we used to live 200 metres away. It was my favourite peninsula pub and i kept going back even... More

This is a hard review to write. On one hand I've read the reviews and can understand some of the difficulties here in not really feeling this restaurant fits it's surroundings, but in fairness based on our experience it was a 'jolly good night'. The service couldn't have been faulted and the food was a cut above pub fare. The... More

Will never go back and I live 40m from this place. Very disappointed given it was quiet especially for a Friday night.

We were surprised to see some of the recent reviews for our experience was of a very friendly bar with caring staff and very good food. It wasn't the cheapest in town but all plates were completely empty when we finished and nothing had to be cut off our steaks - all the meat was lean. We will certainly return... More

I loved the Welcome. Pints of Guiness, steak and Guinesss pies, free matches to take home and keep in your cupboard. The place had it all, including the locals that made you feel like a local. Since the ownership change the pub has lost that unique feel. It's charm replaced by a standard balmain boozer. Sure the food is okay,... More

I was expecting something special for dinner as I thought Dan Mulligan from Pilu was working at the Welcome now. Smoked trout entree was very ordinary, beef steak for the main very delicious and panna cotta dessert was beautiful BUT we really had to pay a high price that maybe some of the dishes deserved but the venue was so...
