The quality of the food is good. However, the seafood is very expensive. They have not listed the price of fresh seafood in the menu. According to the staff, the crab is AU$ 78 per kilo and the fresh fish as well. However, it is still hard to believe, the crab I ordered (the shell is slightly smaller than my... More

Ruby's is an institution. Most of our visits to Canberra end up at Ruby's, be it a small group of four or 10 or more in the private dining rooms out the back. To get the ball rolling the Hot and Sour Soup is a rip snorter. Thick with ingredients and numbing on the tongue it's impossible to stop until... More

This place is amazing! We ate so much food here! Squid, prawns, chicken, beef. The staff dont really have too great English and 1 dish was mistakenly served to us and then taken away from us and when we asked what it was (because it tasted really good) they could not tell us. We never found out what it was.... More

We love good quality Chinese food and this restaurant has some of the best! Their dry fried beef is particularly good. We had it with Chef's special sauce and it was so delicious that we could have licked the plate.

Great Chinese or Asian food in general is hard to locate in Canberra. I find Ruby to be one of the few establishments that do the signature dishes well. I love their pippis in XO sauce and their crabs/lobsters. Is the atmosphere the best? I think it's very standard and what you expect from a Chinese restaurant. I have been... More

Mystery Prices? While the menu is reasonable the one thing you might miss (actually you will definitely miss) is the small print on the inside cover of the menu that indicates a minimum charge of $20 per head. This will be helpfully pointed out by the surly waitress after she has poured your wine, thereby limiting your options to extricate... More

Had a Christmas get together with friends. Only four of us. The food was easily as good as any of the best Chinese restaurants that I have visited. Sauces are not over done or salty and the various dishes that we selected were distinctly different in taste and texture, which may not be so at other venues. The staff is... More

Been coming to the Ruby in Dixon for years (decades), can't remember ever had a bad meal. I would rate it the best Chinese restaurant for food & services in Canberra. I was in this business for 20+ years, so should know a thing or 2. To appreciate this place you need to know what to order as it specializes... More

I went to this place about 12 months ago and it wasnt too bad. Its never been a fantastic place but its usually okay. I went there again last night to catch up with friends and the food has gone downhill fast. Even the fried rice was very average. Its had a taste like it had been cooked in old... More
