Great service! Food excellent A great surprise, this little restaurant located in a corner of Northbourne Ave. Away from the trendy areas, has created a reputation on its own right Highly recommended Had dinner Saturday night, all tables full, glad I made a reservation

Liked the friendly service, fresh oysters and sparkling wine. My kids liked the Kids' Menu (one had pasta and one pizza - clearly just made with fresh ingredients). Fish of day was battered (I would have preferred a choice on cooking method)

First impressions were completely uninspiring. The restaurant looked drab and boring like being at a school camp cafeteria. Couldn't blame the waitresses who did their best and they were friendly. The meal, like the décor , was bland and not very tasty. The wine list was okay and the bill was reasonable in terms of Canberra. A forgettable night!

Took visiting friends to The Haig. Terrible idea. One of our group tried to make a booking 3 months ago- told Resturant was out of commission. This is still the case. Open floor hallway seating that allowed us to view the hotel guests heading back and forth from the pool. Group in bar overhead was having incredibly loud party- staff... More

Dined at the Haig Italian Restaurant with two friends, which we used the coupon from the Entertainment book. When we arrived, the building looked run down and there was quite a lot of construction happening around the place. The Restaurant is part of the Capital Hotel and the main entrance was closed, so we had to venture around to the... More

We went here for dinner as we bought their living social deal. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive as soon as we walked in. Meals came out very quick. We orderd the garlic prawns for entree... These were delicious! Although $20 for four prawns is a little steep in my opinion. My partner ordered the chicken breast with pesto rissotto.... More

We've lived in Canberra for 10 years and tried many restaurants and decided to give the "famous" Haig a go. I fully agree with Matthew H's review. The prices were the same as some extremely outstanding restaurants in Canberra and yet the food was mediocre, you couldn't even pass it off as great home style cooking and definitely not worth... We went because this was in the entertainment book, and after hearing those endless ads on the radio about longing for the food back at the Haig, we thought we'd try it out. Unfortunately I didn't check the reviews long enough prior to avoid going and wasting my money. When we arrived we were informed that the main dining room... More

A warm welcome, with a lovely atmosphere. Very extensive menu and a good wine list. Highly recommend the Cabernet from Gunderoo. We had the scallops (entree), lamb , chicken breast for mains, just perfect.

We had dinner at the Haig tonight - after all the advertising of this 'amazing Italian restaurant', I was extremely disappointed. The entrée (garlic prawns with rice) was very tasty, but, really, four prawns for $20?? The garlic bread was quite nice. I had the linguini marinara for main - maybe I have been watching too much of 'My Kitchen... More
