Pleasent experience

Ate here after wandering past it the night before. The front of the shop opens up, so the shop space doesn't feel tight and restrictive. The service was quick and friendly. I like eating here, especially in the summer. The food is tasty, the restaurant has great views to the street, and you can linger and enjoy the night and each others company OR have a quick meal and get out of there. The last time we dined here we had white bait (which I love), duck san choi boy, hand... More

I have eaten at Ginseng twice now about 5 years apart and both times the quality of the food was exceptional. Service was also excellent and timely. I will eat here next time I am in Canberra.

We recently visited this restaurant based on the great reviews. It seems to be a family run business and they are very accommodating and the food is very nice and fresh. Servings were a decent size except for a Thai prawn hotpot type dish which was very small and therefore not good value. I was also suprised to see honey... More

Four of us shared an entree (duck spring rolls - small but very tasty), and three main dishes with steamed rice. Ginseng does a very good version of my old favourite, shentung (not sure of the spelling) chicken, and we also enjoyed the lamb with mint and mirin sauce - very tender pieces of lamb with a subtle favour. We... More

We came to this restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday. While the restaurant is small it is very cosy. The waiter was very attentive to our needs. The food was hot and delicious. I can say it was the best Mongolian Beef I have had to date. I would definitely come here again. This restaurant has also won several awards... More

The food here is OK Yum Cha, with the usual selections. The first time I went there it was OK, on this occasion (Father's Day lunch) it was very different. The service was appalling, the Yum Cha trolleys did not circulate adequately and despite repeated requests the trolleys did not come around often enough with enough variety. This problem occurred... After reading good reviews from people`s past experience with this restaurant I decided to go there for a Sunday lunch and was disappointed with the quality of food served. At the price that they charge I expected more and this is based on passed experiences that I have had from the Chinese cuisine.

We are never disappointed when eating at Ginseng. It may be an unpretentious and quite small venue, but the food is always great, and the service is usually very helpful. We shared duck spring rolls for entree: more costly than than the usual spring rolls, but worth it occasionally if you do enjoy the flavour of duck. The shantung lamb... More
