Ideal place for good food and good service all freshly cooked and exceptionally tasty 😋. Sit and view the castle then take a walk 🚶 on the riverside , well worth a visit . .

we had a goulash dish which was tasty and a jacket potato with cheese, asked for a little onion with it rather than a salad. potato was soggy, no butter as promised and none on the side, minimum amount of cheese and a pile of red onion thrown on the side. disappointing at at £17.00 for those two items small... Gannets has been a regular lunch place for me for several years now. Today's visit was disappointing. A small potato skin - greasy and dried up. One of the salads was hard butternut squash. I pointed out to the waitress that I was disappointed. No apology - just a comment 'well I like it very much'. I was very surprised... More

One of my Very Favourite Sunday Treats. My wife and I are both Bikers.!! Motor bikes. And we enjoy going out on Sundays for Dinner. No Sunday Roasts at Gannets. Instead Beautiful Home made Quiches, Filled Potato Skins, Crispy fresh salads. And Home made Cakes, to die for. Cherry and Apricot. One of the Specials I had to have this... More

My partner and I visit Gannets on a fairly regular basis and have to say that they offer quality food, professional service and comfortable surroundings. We particularly enjoy breakfast there. Lunch can appear a little pricey but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for!

Been visiting Gannets for over 30 years and sad to say since Hilary sold/left we have become less enchanted. Recent visits have found us disappointed in the (standard menu) potato skins - left to get too dry - and then recently the plates seem to have "shrunk" so portions are smaller. With so much competition in Newark I hope they... More

Overall a very good experience. We visited Gannets by chance on a motorcycle trip to Wales. The food was great with a nice helping of salad. The "legendary carrot cake" was very good. They even let us sit by the window so that we could watch over our bikes.

The food was good, but the self- service aspect looked dangerous. We were seated upstairs (not for the elderly) The food had to be collected from downstairs, but our waitress did help us with that. It is a place worth visiting for the food and the ambience

Me and my friend went in for dinner It was so expensive we paid £5.25 for two very small tasteless scones with a cup of tea with a small pot of jam and cream and the quince was very strange just egg filling then a thin layer of stuff on top which was again tasteless.

This is a clean, bright and relaxed little establishment just out of the immediate centre of Newark; one I visit every time I am in the town, a convenient meeting place midway between Grimsby and Warwickshire for my friend and I to meet. Quite a little oasis of calm whether for a quick coffee or a lunch, with newspapers available... More
