A refreshing Change from The Standard Greek Fare ...

A change from the usual Greek Taverna we decide to try this charming upstairs restaurant run by an eccentric French lady . The little dishes of homemade appetiser dips were delicious especially the hummus as was the soft cheese and the hot spinach puff pastry tarty we shared as a starter . To be... read more

Can you get any worse? I think not! The food was mediocre at best...all hype and no taste! Just like the owner! There are no pictures because there was nothing worth photographing...unless the dog shaking it's fur in the kitchen interests you. I suggest you don't waste your time or money at The Balcony!

Excellent food, outstanding the pastry with herbs, spinach and cheese. I never in my life had such a good Baklava. Everything is fresh made. Tonya, the owner and the cook, is an artist. Well, it's expensive, compared to the other Restaurants in Crete. But it is a great experience. We loved it.

For nearly 20 years Tonya at Balcony is offering a unique showcase of Sitia. She peaks only the freshest organic materials, and prepares them with extreme care, respect and youthful creativity. The intoxicating flavors of the mountain herbs that make Sitia special in Crete are there exploding in your mouth. The service runs smoothly with Tonia making sure that a... More

Wonderful atmosphere with lovely French taste of details. We had a light lunch with salad and code fish. Both dishes well presented and originals in taste. A nice place for revisited greek cuisine.

We had a very pleasant meal here. The appetisers and starters (we had the seasonal greens, served like bruchetta) in particular were fantastic. It was all a bit more classy and thought out than the other places in town, therefore you pay more, however, it is value for money. My only issue was my own fault, I was too warm... More

We were there one year ago. September 2013.We have 2 little children and we don't get 2 go out often so when we do, it has to be worth it. Well it was!!! I am so glad we did research on tripadvisor because it deserves to be at nr 1. I find the level high, gastronomic and it is not... More

The kitchen is a bit of fusion between Crete and Continental. The palce is slightly more up-scale with white towels, etc. The prices were high (mains 15-20 EUR) compared to tens of places we have visited in Crete. However, the food is very tasty - fish properly prepared (even simple stuff like sardidines), meat soft with tasty sauce, and past... More

We were thrilled to be able to experience dining at "The Balcony " in July 2014.. Certainly one of the top highlights of our 3 weeks in eastern Crete. This was a "Pinch Yourself " occasion, with the wonderful atmosphere, the ambience, the decor, and above all the outstanding and tasty Cretan dishes. Tonya is an amazing chef, the food... More
