For truly gluttonous eating

People are often rather nasty about Palenque town. I found it very typical of the sort of place that, as the result of hard effort and "development", has managed to pull itself out of the poverty mire, largely of course due to tourisim. Choice in palenque town is pretty limited, so a lot of people end up here. It's nothing special, but it is fine. Just don't go alone, you couldn't possibly finish even one dish!

But very good food. Nice vibe too. Service could be much better. We liked the shrimps, the chicken, the nachos and the lemonade

We decided to try Las Tinajas for breakfast before our trek to the ruins of Palenque and we were really more than satisfied with the service and the portions of the food. My daughter ordered a fruit salad that easily fed both her and myself. I ordered eggs and hot cakes that filled my plate to overflowing. The hot chocolate... More

food portion was huge, my chicken order included a whole bird, impossible to eat it all , each order is at least good for 2 people, service is mediocre and it takes time as they cook everything to order.

During our recent visit to Palenque I had 3-4 restaurants in mind to try and we happened to stumble onto Las Tinajas first. We ordered chicken enchiladas with dark mole and some beef tacos. I'm not sure what we were expecting, but the enchiladas blew us away! The mole was the best either of us had ever tasted. The beef... More

At the mid afternoon time we stopped it was quite in this good sized place. We shared Chicken a la Veracruzano and Chicken Milanesa. We could have done with just one order, as both plates were very large. The Chicken Milanesa was breaded & fried and served with lots of fries and tomato slices. It was very good, except for... Las Tinajas is a gem (though you'll need good directions to find it.). This was the second time I had eaten breakfast there (this time with my wife and last time by myself in Jan, '13), and this restaurant does not disappoint! Delicious food, generous portions, great service, friendly prices. My kind of place!

This restaurant is within walking distance of our hotel ( Tulipanes ) and we had read the reviews saying the had ample portions. Being very hungry after exploring the ruins all day, we came here. We are very big eaters and let me just say the portions are GINORMOUS. We had ordered the stuffed bananas and a soup as an... More
