Old English Pub

Called in for a quick meal on Friday night and warmly greeted by the landlady or though took me a while to get to the bar as it is quite small. The pub is very old and rustic with a more formadining area to the left of the bar a smaller bar meal area to the right. There is a... read more

Selsey crab salads were spot-on, with good range of beers. Then we had home-made treacle tart; out of this world, as not too sweet. As a finale, the Vulcan flew directly above us very low. What more could you want as we contemplated the stunning roses in the very large garden? Watch out though for the staff bringing food into... More

It was my first time visiting, and we had a roaring welcome from Sue the landlady. The food was delicious - I had the cottage pie, and my dining partner had the fish pie which was incredible - there was also a side dish of seasonal veg, and we finished with the apple pie. Lovely gardens and friendly locals. Can't... More

Our walking group enjoys eating here as the beer and food are always tasty with a varied menu, though not especially cheap. It can be difficult to seat a large group like us inside, and ordering at the cramped bar is awkward. Service is efficient and friendly, even if sitting on the furthest part of the garden enjoying the views.... More

The garden is well maintained and the roses when we visited were amazing. Tasty food served outside looking up at the South Downs, great after a day's walking.

My sister and I stopped in here for lunch; the food was excellent, the service quick and attentive, the local beer very good and best of all it was all wrapped up in a beautiful old, unimproved building. No modern decorator's take on how a country pub should be, just the genuine article.

The pristine well loved premises and extensive rose gardens where many diners eat is quite exceptional. it is somewhere you want to eat again and again and would love to live. The reception is warm, the food is delicious, imaginative and top of the range where dishes are concerned and the ambiance is all you could desire of a country... More

Dog friendly, old world charm establishment from the 14th Century. I enjoyed the smoked duck and roast pepper salad (£8.75) and the banoffi pie, both ample portions and yummy.

My husband and I thought we would try somewhere different. After checking tripadvisor we chose this hidden gem about 10 minutes from Midhurst. Very traditional in every way. The bar, the staff, the gorgeous garden and the extensive but simple menu. The treacle tart was quite something....... lots of space to sit out in the sun, lots of parking, we... More
