Lovely small, village pub, stunning views of the South Downs whilst sitting in the rose garden eating lunch. Small selection of tasty food.

I first went here last Autumn with a good friend, but forgot to do a review. It is still excellent and the view from the garden is sublime. The roses are great too, but I only saw one of their famous dwarf chickens [fox attack??}. The beer and wine are well chosen and our mains of sirloin and salmon/prawns were... More

We had lunch with some friends and we all really enjoyed our food. Our chicken pie with filo pastry was very tasty and in our opinion certainly didn't need 'more substantial pastry' as another review suggested. All main courses were good and the puddings scrumptious. The service was prompt and friendly. We will certainly be back.

We have been to this typically english pub for lunch many times , but we had been away for 10 years and were not sure that it was still as we remembered it. We had read the reviews with some concern but it fully lived up to our expectations. The beer was good , the food was tasty , wholesome... More

Such a lovely pub. It ozzes age and character. The healthiest roses I've ever seen. Enchanting Bantams and little babies. Fabulous garden and stunning views. The pub was very full. However the food was a bit variable. The avocado and prawn starters were delicious and beautifully presented. The chicken pie need more substantial pastry and flavour okay but nothing to... More

We had lunch here recently and although the setting is beautiful the food is just bog standard pub food. My coronation chicken salad couldn't have been more ordinary, just no imagination. Full of overbearing locals all with their dogs, which nearly outnumbered the humans. Just put a sign up saying locals only!! Probably won't go again, their approach to the... More

The drive to this pretty, unspoiled pub with spectacular views is a delight and we have thought it well worth the journey.....until now. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday and we thought, as in the past, we would be unable to park. We were surprised to find plenty of spaces and not many tables taken outside in the well- tended... More

Came here the other afternoon with business colleague/best mate....we couldn't have picked a nicer place....Yes, people were wearing red cords and tweed jackets (joe the tax payer!) as we are in the country after all and thank god not in the city! The food was superb, fresh...chose the avocado and stilton starter, fab then the steak au poivre, superb! The... More

Had three pints of the most fantastic ale straight out of the barrell last night. Superb Flowerpots Perridge :-) Then three course meal of top quality traditional english food. Home made leek and potato soup, followed by my favourite SPA salad (smoked salmon prawn and avacado) yummy. Then finished off with a fantastic bowl full of apple crumble and custard.... More

Lovely old pub and although popular with visitors, there are lots of locals. The food - I have only eaten there a few times - is OK but go for the a lazing views and good atmosphere and if you have walked there, the food will be just fine.
