Old world charm

Dog friendly, old world charm establishment from the 14th Century. I enjoyed the smoked duck and roast pepper salad (£8.75) and the banoffi pie, both ample portions and yummy.

My husband and I thought we would try somewhere different. After checking tripadvisor we chose this hidden gem about 10 minutes from Midhurst. Very traditional in every way. The bar, the staff, the gorgeous garden and the extensive but simple menu. The treacle tart was quite something....... lots of space to sit out in the sun, lots of parking, we... More

Saturday 4 July 2015 8;35 pm. Pub quiet. One local in the bar. 2 ladies serving. 2 people in the garden and a couple of tables eating. Great old building in a good country setting with great views from the rear garden / car park. Car park is past the old pub entrance. A shame as the old entrance is... More

We came here recently and it was fantastic. We sat outside and the views are simply stunning. The whole pub is set in the most glorious setting and I could easily while away many happy an hour here. The food is also excellent. The sticky toffee pudding in particular is marvellous. The portions are huge and very reasonably priced. The... More

Don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. Food is unfussy but excellent and at a fair price. Location is stunning. If you want a traditional pub and all that goes with it then come to this pub and have a fine time. Loved it - a pub that sells food, not a restaurant pretending to be a pub!

Came upon his delightful find yesterday while on the way home after a day out with 2 Kiwis. Could not believe our luck! Everything was lovely starting from the wafts of cooking as we came in. Our guests were entranced and enjoyed their meals tremendously as did we. Peoples comments about the price of the food surprise me, there is... More

Stopped in with mom and dad. Mom's 88th birthday! Access was a little tricky over a gravel path, as both the folks are frail and use walkers, but within a few yards the beautiful garden opens up with benches and good seats everywhere. Amazingly well tended rose beds and foxgloves with a view looking out to the escarpment of the... More

Set in the Beautiful Sussex Countryside with amazing access by twisty turning back roads this Pub was a Fantastic find. Offering breathtaking views of the South Downs and a very friendly welcome it is an ideal place to take a rest while exploring the south coast. The food is well cooked and delicious. We called in midway through a long walk and it felt a really welcoming place to arrive, the garden is amazing with plenty of well spaced tables, fortunately it was warm enough to sit out outside. The menu looked really good and our meals arrived very promptly, although as lunchtime wore on I am sure the wait got longer and... More
