Never ending winding road from Andorra to Spain finally ended and we found ourselves in a beautiful valley. We left Andorra after breakfast and the time was getting around three. So we starred looking for a place to have lunch. For a while nothing was around that caught the eye. And then in a little village we spotted a hotel... More

We stayed here for two nights and the hosts of this little gem are really lovely, nothing was too much trouble, they made us feel very welcome! The rooms are quite basic but this was not a problem for us as we expected they would be and the main reason for our visit was the award winning restaurant which was... More

My wife and I have a weakness for restaurants that have been bestowed a star or two. In Catalunya that means something because the Catalans take their food really seriously. This place is just amazing. Tucked away in the tiny village of Gombrén is the unpretentious Fonda Xesc. We took a degustacion weekend to include 2 dinners, bed and breakfast.... More

How did we got there? - By a narrow road, full of curves and that seemed never ending. We found an ample space, light and elegant, decorated with modernity. We ate the tasting menu, the food was up to its Michelin star. Signature cuisine without being too bold, with local produce. Wines with very good value for money.

Recently spent two nights with half- board here, with lunch rather than dinner as it was mid-week and found it to be remarkably good value with memorable food. Excellent breakfasts and superlative lunches with the most amazing combinations of tastes and flavours with a strong emphasis on local ingredients The menu was different each day and the wine was also... We spent two nights, the Fonda's gastronomic weekend, and were delighted in every way: a simple room looking down on Gombren's tiny Plaça, good breakfasts and wonderful, inventive dinners, and above all, the warmth and kindness of Meritxall and Francesc who were generous with their time and advice. Not to forget their three delightful small boys!

We too were tempted by the gourmet weekend package - they only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday. The rooms are fairly plain and functional but given the rates include a spectacular breakfast fair value. As Gombrèn is pretty remote (and in a pristine mountain setting) this does give an alternative to driving home since the real point of... More

We discovered this little gem thriugh trip advisor and looking through the Fonda's website confirmed that it sounded like our kind of place. We booked a gastronomic weekend for the middle of a two week tour of Catalonia and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable but... More
