For several years this restaurant has had mixed reviews locally. Recently there have been one or two good write ups in the local press so some friends and I decided to try it for lunch. Three of us had slow cooked belly of pork and I had risotto. My husband and one friend said the pork was only lukewarm, there... More

Dark Horse has an amazing feel to it. The area is amazing, set in a very large area of land. The original flooring is great, as is the bar, in one of the stables. The food was perfect and I cannot complain. It looked like they only had two front of house staff on last night, but they managed it... More

Booked a table for lunch with a friend. Very easy to find but well out the way. You walk into the entrance, converted old cobbled stables which were dark and cosy, so it was a surprise to enter the dining room to find it very bright and almost cafe looking. That said, the music in the back ground was a... More

Arrived in the dark and boy was it dark very dimly lit. The building inside was lovely old stables converted the wife was very taken. Staff very friendly had pre diner drink in the stables whilst waiting for friends to arrive. Dining room was bright and not very busy. We all had coats and the waitress took them to a... More

The stables with original rough cobbled floors are a lovely place for a pre-meal drink, and the restaurant is small and bright, overlooking a courtyard. The lunch menu was very extensive and all six of us thought the food was excellent. The portions were very generous, beautifully prepared and presented. Will certainly go back and look forward to an evening... More

Had our Stowmarket Gipping Valley Rotary Christmas celebration here, and were very impressed with the service and most importantly food. A very enjoyable evening was had by all. Well worth the drive up a very rutted track. Will definitely be returning.

I was part of a large group and we were all really impressed at the food and the service. Hearty portions, all served at the same time, all hot and obviously home-cooked. It was a Christmas menu, but there were plenty of choices for those who didn't want traditional Christmas food. The tomato and basil soup was utterly delicious! Good... More

This was the first time we've been back for about 5 years, as the previous owners fare was awful I had burger and chips. lovely home made burger, well seasoned and flavoured with sage, however was a little dry. Chips were light and fluffy, nice bun. Hubbie had home made tomato and basil soup, with home made rolls. followed by... More

I really thought I'd discovered something special and which is fairly local to us. We had been before and had a simple lunch, burger & chips, which was ok so we thought we'd go again and try something from the main menu. I had the pork belly, which -as someone else commented was awful- it was microwave cooked and piles... More
