Went for breakfast a couple of times on a Sunday morning. Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs are the best in the world. (I don't like my eggs sloppy) so perfect for me, the tea and coffee are wonderful and the breakfast my husband had was great. well done Dark horse hoping to see you for dinner on Wednesday night.

Have visited twice now and experienced no improvement sadly! Meals chosen sounded nice on the menu but disappointed with quality and taste. Presentation moderate to good but just not quite good enough to really enjoy and say yes I'll be back. Actually we won't!

Decided to try The Dark Horse instead of the Leaping Hare as reviews were positive. We were a bit disappointed. It wasn't what we expected. Not really sure how to describe it but restaurant doesn't fit for us. Not a pub or a cafe. Perhaps the sort of dining place you might find in a National Trust property. Quite interesting... More

we had a meal midweek and it was our first visit there. The converted barn was different and we loved the location. The food was plentiful but quite run of the mill. Good value and pleasant surroundings on a lovely evening, what else could you want? Would we go again? Definitely.

We went to the Dark Horse on Saturday for lunch. It was a Groupon deal so we went with an open mind. The Dark Horse was in a lovely setting and had been tastefully refurbished. We sat outside in the sheltered courtyard as we had our dog with us. We could have sat inside in one of the stables but... More

We had been there many times before it had changed hands, and it was amazing, so we knew that it had something to live up to, however, the new owner did,nt introduce himself, the service was appalling, and we sat there ages without a drink. The Sunday dinner had seen better days, it tasted like it had been kept warm... More

We had visited the Dark Horse a couple of times under the previous owner and found it average. We were interested in the Trip Advisor reports posted this year, as the ownership had changed. When a Groupon offer of two courses and a small glass of wine each for £24.99 came up , we booked. On arrival the man behind... More

After reading some disappointing reviews we were pleased with the service and meal that we had. The young waitress was very friendly and gave excellent service the food was tasty with large portions. We would certainly visit again.

This restaurant had been closed and reopend recently by two experience people Cathy & Paul, and what a place. Very much in the country but well worth the trek, and it is well sign posted,so dont be put off. This unique place in an old stable / coach block and is stunning and the service and food was first class,six... More
