Having been recommended we decided to book and try this restaurant for lunch today. We had homemade leek & Potato soup and smoked salmon & prawns followed by Roast lamb which just melted in our mouths with roast/ Boiled potatoes, Roast Parsnips and carrots, broccoli, yorkshire pud and gravy. I ended it with a blueberry, honeycomb, meringue sundae with vanilla... More

The restaurant had a good atmosphere ,friendly staff and superb food, well presented. Our friends who were visiting over the weekend were very impressed with the quality of the food and also the gluten free options available. We will certainly return and recommend this restaurant to others.

We spent the weekend with friends who booked for dinner on Saturday and Sunday lunch. We had pre dinner drinks in the stable lounge which was cosy and then were taken to our table. Well all i can say is that both dinner and sunday Lunch (roast) were excellent. The meals were very tasty and hot, there was a good choice of... More

The waitress was lovely and charming, the food, average, very average, so much so that I will not return. Why oh why is it so difficult to deliver good food at a reasonable price!

I have a policy for reading reviews on Tripadvisor. I always look at the 'terribles' and try to spot a common thread running through them, single complaints don't mean too much but if the same thing keeps rearing its ugly head then maybe there's an issue. One problem with this site is that it doesn't 'draw a line in the... More

Friends we were visiting thought we might like this restaurant. They were right. But bear in mind it was a glorious summer evening when the Suffolk countryside was at its very best. Fields of ripe corn. A swelling crescent moon heading towards a harvest moon. The road up to the restaurant is...lumpy. If you manage to negotiate the speed bumps,... More

We had a lovely meal here on a beautiful hot July eve. Service excellent and so was the food. Had 2 courses plus wine, coffee and nightcap and bill was reasonable for special eve. The owners were very hospitable. The room was a little echoie perhaps could have done with some background music, but will definitely go back.

We had a lovely two course meal at The Dark Horse. The surroundings were great - a converted barn - and the food interesting and delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful. We will be returning!

We have eaten at the Dark Horse on several occasions and have previously eaten at the owners previous business. We have never had a bad experience. The food is consistently good and freshly cooked. Moreover, given that I have a dietary disorder and need a gluten free diet, the kitchen is always willing to flex the menu to accommodate me.... More

Let me summarise: Paper Napkins! We asked for a jug of water and received precisely that! (Warm water - no ice!) Dreadful, dreadful intrusive music, not conducive to relaxation! Cheap cutlery. Terrible lighting - no atmosphere whatsoever. Frozen chips! (In a restaurant?) Cheap quality frozen peas and mushrooms. A tatty cactus on the table rather than flowers or a candle!... More
