Visited late on a friday evening after a long journey and this was just what we needed. Felt very welcome from the minute we walked through the doors. Staff could not do enough to ensure excellent food in a fantastic ambience. Will definitely be returning not just for the food and atmosphere but for the excellent prices aswell.

Recently reopened under new ownership, it provided excellent food in updated surroundings. The wine was excellent and different beers were good to see. We will be returning and hope this is a successful venture for the new owners

After being let down by a local carvery restaurant with, our party of 11 celebrating a ruby wedding anniversary, we rang the Dark Horse and were welcomed with open arms! Although they were fully booked, we enjoyed a drink in the stable bar and were seated as quickly as possible. The owners Cathy and Paul were more than helpful and... More

Got to give them the benefit of the doubt as they haven't been open long and I guess it takes time to get all your "ducks in a row". Visited the Dark Horse on Mothers day, first time since it had re-opened, and was pretty disappointed, two of us had the Beef, and was that tough!! neither of us could... More

Recently reopened. Made very welcome. Food - a good choice, soup excellent, mains very good and the desserts lovely. Wine not overpriced which makes a nice change. A good meal in pleasant surroundings. I will return.

Decided to visit on the way back from London up to Norfolk for Sunday lunch as it is only a small detour and it is well worth missing the Elveden road in its current state!! We were late but on both occasions I phoned to apologise they were really helpful and didn't pose a problem. We have 2 children and... More

Four of us visited for lunch having passed the brown signs a number of times while driving past the village. The road to The Dark Horse is a little interesting - take it slow as there are some enthusiastic speed humps! The building itself is beautiful - I love that the bar and toilets were in old stables, and the... More

I recommend the fishcakes! My risotto was delicious too. The building is beautifully presented. Worth making the trip.
