Very different venue, nice conversion of the stables of a large country house. We were treated to lunch for my birthday. Good service, lovely pork fillet. Syrup sponge very light, could have had a little more custard. The raspberry cheesecake was a little disappointing, defrosted frozen raspberries and I'm pretty sure the chocolate decoration was a chocolate flavour as opposed... More

We enjoyed a Sunday lunch with friends. The service was friendly and prompt. Several choices for both starters & main courses. 2 roast choices. Selection of desserts seemed a little limited but they all looked tasty. Fairly generous portions of well cooked food. Will certainly go there again - would like to try an evening meal. Interesting venue, good value... More

Dropped in on the Dark Horse a few weeks ago just for a drink, we liked the surroundings and the friendly staff. Then we saw that they had a Groupon deal, so we purchased the meal for four. We went last night and the food and service we're excellent. Even though we had the benefit of the Groupon deal, we... More

We visited the Saturday before last. My daughter had been before and highly recommended a visit. I was not disappointed. Started with pear, walnut and stilton salad. Warm mushroom and leek quiche with herby roast new potatoes, delicious. The waitress was lovely. We wanted to change seats, not a problem. We asked her to take some photos, not a problem.... More

We enjoyed a good meal here in delightful quirky surroundings. Enjoying a bar drink in the stable was a fun surprise. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The food was good and the portions all good sizes. The menu was interesting and offered a good range of dishes.

Rural Suffolk has plenty of top-notch middle-of-nowhere treats, and this is truly one of the best. Secreted away at the back of a country house being used as a residential home is this humble restaurant, lovingly run by a welcoming couple. The former coach house and stables have been converted into a well-presented dining room and bar area which makes... More

I along with a group of friends called in for coffee. It was a beautiful sunny morning and the journey very rural but the Dark Horse looked intriguing. We were greeted very warmly and shown into the dining room, passing through the bar area which still has the format of the horse stalls, it was pleasantly decorated and very sunny... More

Off a small road and down a track to behind the nursing home, it was a bit of an adventure to find but well worth the effort. Old stable block made for an interesting setting for some really nice food. I had chicken and chorizo as starter - no thin slivers of sausage either, good meaty chunks. The venison casserole...
