Went for an early Saturday evening meal - lovely bar food in a clean and characterful pub. Staff efficient and pleasant. Loo (ladies!) modern, spotlessly clean (as was the pub itself) and stocked with gorgeous handwash, lotion and tissues - very impressed! Added bonus, although we didn't use it, was a very nice sunny beer garden and a decent sized... More

Food average and overpriced.......tiny portions too. Felt very much like an inconvenience to the waiting staff who couldn't even be bothered to speak with words just replied with grunts. Requests to change accompaniments with dessert were ignored and at no point were we asked if all was ok. Felt not dissimilar to a trip to McDonalds. Should have realised that... More

Locally sourced ingredients, well cooked. One evening we had medallions of venison and can honestly say it was one of the best meals we've had. Ample portions, with top-class chips & vegetables. Menu varied from the sample online & outside the Hostelrie, it was still good & interesting & the chef was flexible (they weren't hugely busy at the time).... More

A pleasant intimate venue, friendly staff, good food. The owner even took us back to our hotel, we couldn't stay at the Hostelrie as they were full; definitely recommended

As a family or a couple, we've been to The Hostelrie about 8 times this year. A new chef has been brought in and is making a fantastic impact. To date, not one bad meal. Burgers are very tasty, steaks are very tender and beautifully cooked, pies are excellent. The menu is simple but uses local produce and is well... More

I decided to book a table for Saturday lunch as there were 7 in our party including two children and after looking at their impressive website and reviews on Tripadvisor I assumed it would be busy. They didn't reply to my booking enquiry by email, there was no answer when i phoned, so I had to pop in to book... More

The new landlord Ayrton is very welcoming and truly makes a customer feel at home. I sat in a lovely spot next to the wood burner where I ordered a Rib Eye Steak from the specials board and I have to say it was cooked to perfection. I feel I must comment on the presentation as it was very eye... More

... Interesting menu, good quality ingredients, well cooked, well kept cellar, friendly staff, prompt service, reasonable prices, warm fire on a very cold night, cheerful Christmas decorations.
