I have been to the Red Lion with friends 3 times in the last 10 weeks,(and dont understand one previous negative comment and agree with all the positive ones,) The last visit 22nd Jan was a cold frosty evening and we were welcomed by a warm log fire as you walk in creating a cosy atmosphere. The landlady welcomed us... More

Called in with friends for lunch after reading the glowing reports on Trip Adviser but we were disappointed with the place and the offering. The food was OK but we didn't think it lived up to some of the glowing reviews that have been posted and don't feel the place warrants a five star rating. This is one occasion were... More

Thank you for your review, we are a bit concerned as you have changed it 3 times, each time putting something different on! ( a little bit suspicious ) However, a review is a review and you are entitled to put whatever you like, generally people will read between the lines of these reviews. Do you know why Pubs are... Came in with a group of friends for a Sunday lunch, service was amazing and the waitress extremely polite and friendly. The food was amazing and easily the best in the area! Well worth traveling a good few miles to get there!

I have visited the Red Lion many times and had only good experiences. The food is uniformly excellent, the service is impeccable, the staff are always friendly and helpful, and prices are great value for money. I cannot identify in any way with the Dagwod B review. Alex Orr (Dr)

Like many similar local pubs the Red Lion has had a chequered history over the last few years but since being taken over by Dave and Kath has established itself as being one of those establishments that one can universally recommend, something which is not usually easy to do. Consistency is the key and on the many occasions we have... More

Thank you for your comments, we too were shocked by the remarks made by Dagwood B, we wondered what was meant by the word "oppressive" Anyhow, as we have found, you can't please all of the people all of the time but we continue to provide the best we can for all who visit. We look forward to your next... More

On our way back from Cardiff we searched a brilliant app called Around Me, it let's you see nearby pubs, restaurants, ATM's, services etc v handy. We then cross checked with trust TA and thought we'd give the Red Lion a try. Outside looks quite impressive, polished and smart. Inside is much more low key, old style pub but we... More

Booked to celebrate a family birthday, even though they were very busy the service was welcoming and very efficient, the food was excellent and the portions are very generous. We had a very enjoyable evening and would highly recommend.
