Good restaurant, on par with price

Staying at hotel went to dinner at the restaurant, views are amazing, service was top shelf, food was above average. They have a large selection of wine but very limited vintage which I found disappointing.

The restaurant at Venatan has a warm, rustic feel withou losing the elegance of a four star resort. Since our last visit in November the menu has changed more towards the taste I prefer while maintaining dishes preferred by more discerning palates. The staff, as always, are friendly, helpful and will always accommodate special requests if possible.

When we arrived we were immediately hit with the wondrous view. From on high a view of the ocean to the east and to the west rising mountains and the coastal forest. The staff was very friendly and incredibly attentive. The food was beyond Amazing. There is a large outdoor patio with seating but it was too early in the... More

I had a hamburger and it was awesome and my guest had a sandwich that was highly recommended and they loved it---some type of beef. We had an appertiser that was lettice... More

A friend told me he and a friend had stopped here a while back and I had to take my wife for a drink or two and take in the views while vacationing in the area. Big Sur! Sure. What a dissapoinment. Asked about getting a couple glasses of wine and sitting outside. Was told no worries. Got our wine,... More

We were fortunate to visit the Ventana Inn restaurant on a picture perfect Northern California day. The temps were in the 60s and there was not a cloud in the sky. We ate on their delightful patio with commanding views along the coast and of the pacific. A beautiful spot. The service we received was excellent, attentive but yet not... More

We've been eating here on stays at Ventana for many years but won't go back. Brought the wrong food. Fois gras was undercooked. Duck breast was old and tough. Desserts were half frozen and stale-tasting.

the food is as described, and the wine list is full of choice wines from the surrounding wine growing area - one of the world's best. Since we stayed 4 nights (which is probably uncommon) a few new specials each night would have been welcome. The setting also bears mentioning. The indoor portion of the restaurant features 3 woodburning fireplaces... More

The dinner preparation and presentation were excellent. Wine steward heavy on descriptions, light on pairing recommendations. The duck dish was uniquely and well-prepared. If you are staying on the property the walk is wonderful, especially in the morning for breakfast. Breakfast is routine, nothing outstanding, but not bad. Fresh vegetables with eggs are a nice addition, but omelets dry and... More
