My husband and I came here after driving 3.5 hours from Napa to Big Sur. We were starving but didn't want to eat too much before our dinner reservation. The restaurant was adorable and we loved the decor. The food was great and so was the service.

After a day of hiking I was famished. Parked the car at my cabin at Ripplewood and walked across the street to the Roadhouse. There was an outdoor fire pit with couches so I had dinner outside. I had the butternut squash soup. Warmed me right up. I then had the steak. On the expensive side but it was delicious.... More

We came for breakfast and at first were not sure if the menu really had enough to offer. It's a simple menu, with most items being flagged for being made in house, so we thought we'd give it a try. The interior seating is comfortable and has great light coming in. It was too cold for us to sit outside... More

Wow! Either something went very wrong last night compared to all these other favorable reviews or else there are very different standards of service and quality in the Big Sur area. This was quite frankly ONE OF THE WORST MEALS OUT we have ever had. We were initially impressed with the hippy ambiance of the place but after being seated... More

We ate at this restaurant four times over a two day stay in Big Sur (breakfast and dinner). Each meal was way above average. Quite a few of the pastry, dessert, and baked items were homemade. The prices were not unreasonable, given the quality of the food. The service was excellent. Next time we travel that way, we will make... More

After visiting family in California from Canada, I was making my travels up the coast when a large rain storm settled in and wouldn't let up. My daughter and I stopped in by chance and wow-were we ever surprised by the experience! The interior design is well-thought out and we wished it was sunny so we could enjoy the inviitng... More

Tucked away on the West Side of Hwy 1 sits this great eatery. Featuring Cajun style food, the Roadhouse is a winner, from the outdoor patio to the indoor bar, this place shines. The coffee is top notch also!.

We are foodies and enjoy good food at home and in restaurants. We were really impressed with the Roadhouse and went back for a second dinner within a few days. Sure, not super cheap, but honestly nothing is cheap in the area. The food was however really good. We tried the fish soup, the homemade pasta and the steak, which... More

We all enjoyed our lunch at the Roadhouse. Very distinctive menu and very tasty. My daughter and her husband had the Prix Fixed Christmas Dinner and raved about it.

I came here specifically because of the write up in Sunset Magazine and really wanted to like it. I was really really disappointed. The space is very well done. The service was fine. But the portions were very small and the prices were not. And the food was blah. I had the French onion soup which consisted of a slice... More
