Description: The Big Sur Roadhouse features Chef Matt Glazer’s fresh take on classic California cuisine. Hailing from New Orleans, Matt brings a unique blend of Cajun style to the bountiful California coast. In keeping with our Big Sur ethos, the seasonal menu is filled with locally sourced organic ingredients. Also, not to be missed, San Francisco designer Steve Justrich’s “homegrown modernism” has transformed the Roadhouse into a truly unique and fitting environment for dining in Big Sur. We are open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and small bites in between. Please stop by for coffee, a glass of wine, a snack or make a reservation for a full meal.

We greatly enjoyed our dinner at this Cajun-inspired new eatery, part of the trendy Glen Oaks Big Sur hotel. It is next to Hwy 1 (PCH), and has no view. But it has a nice outdoor patio and a soothing, light-colored and very modern interior dining room. Staff was very low key but good. Almost all the food was excellent,... More

Be careful or you will miss it. West side of the highway, bright new sign across the street from the gas station. This was an accidental find as we were referred by the café across the highway because they had run out of propane. Excellent , excellent food. The references to poor service had to be a wait to be... More

This was an unexpected treasure!! We made it for lunch with minutes to spare!! We were so lucky!! Huge sandwiches !! Stuffed with yummy meats it was a two handed meal!! Espresso over vanilla ice cream was the crowning end to a delicious meal! Our waiter, who is also a student from Monterey, was fantastic! Friendly, helpful, fast and fun!!... More

It looks so welcoming and the menu is southern food---a fun surprise for Big Sur---the service was slow slow slow---the food was ok--so all in all, not bad but not above average.

What a treat it was to have some down home New Orleans food in Big Sur ! The poboy sandwiches were outstanding , a filling meal made with the freshest ingredients. The biscuit bowl with vegetables was a treat. The fare was very reasonable and staff was friendly . Great job Big Sur Roadhouse

We went to the Roadhouse from a friend's recommendation for breakfast. Disappointed. Overpriced. Small portions. Food was not very good. Lack of service. Our experience was nothing to compare to the other reviews. My wife had The Roadhouse Breakfast ($11). One egg with grits. I had Three Eggs as You Like Them ($10). My three eggs was the same size... Stopped here by accident really. We'd just stayed at Ripplewood, checked out at 11am to find Ripplewood cafe full and the diner a mile north stopped breakfast at 11. The Roadhouse is almost directly opposite Ripplewood Resort, set back slightly off the road and almost invisible as screens are up to protect diners from the road sights and sounds. As... More

After seeing the Roadhouse featured on a local "foodie" show, we decided to take a run down Highway 1 and check it out. A beautiful scenic drive put us there about lunch time. A glass of Prosecca, some New Orleans beer and giant portions of very tasty meals left us ready for a nap. Luckily there is a nice comfy... More

My family took a day trip to Big Sur on July 23, 2014. After checking recommended tripadvisor.com restaurants we decided to eat a late lunch at the Big Sur Roadhouse, on the way to Pfeifer Beach (awesome!). We were not disappointed! The restaurant has a great vibe and feel to it. Soft jazz music played in the background. The staff... More

This chef seems to make the extra effort to always have the freshest seafood --- and my daughter and I had the privilege of having his fresh Monterey Bay Salmon. It was 'melt in your mouth' delicious. Service and ambiance were excellent also. If you're a seafood eater you'll love this place.
