Description: The Big Sur Roadhouse features Chef Matt Glazer’s fresh take on classic California cuisine. Hailing from New Orleans, Matt brings a unique blend of Cajun style to the bountiful California coast. In keeping with our Big Sur ethos, the seasonal menu is filled with locally sourced organic ingredients. Also, not to be missed, San Francisco designer Steve Justrich’s “homegrown modernism” has transformed the Roadhouse into a truly unique and fitting environment for dining in Big Sur. We are open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and small bites in between. Please stop by for coffee, a glass of wine, a snack or make a reservation for a full meal.

The food here was quite good. My mom and I split a steak entree and it was certainly enough for two. The wine was also excellent. The service could be a little more prompt and some of the old-timey jazz got a bit annoying after awhile. Perhaps a slightly more contemporary Pandora channel would fix the problem. Otherwise nice setting... More

Amazing food and great service. I had one of my best meals of my entire trip here! I thought that the food was not only amazing for Big Sur, but also top notch for Califonia overall.

This spot has been renovated and really spruced up. Very attractive in an informal setting. We have been there both for breakfast and lunch, and in both cases the food was well prepared, perfectly seasoned and nicely presented. Interesting and creative dishes. So why only a three star? Well its that you leave hungry. And when I say hungry, I... More

Dropped in for lunch. Only a few other people there, but food and service was great. Relaxed, but classy service. Had the roast beef po'boy, plus a glass of lovely Chardonnay. Interesting menu, cool vibe and enjoyable atmosphere. But what sealed it was the excellent coffee in the affogato. Real, strong coffee. Not cheap, but here you get quality. Sydneysiders,... More

The gumbo was excellent, like N, O. and the pork (grill dinner) was one ofg the best on our 8 day trip. Very nice place for the drive down from Monterey.

Based on previous Tripadvisor reviews, my husband and I stopped at the Big Sur Roadhouse on our trip up Big Sur on September 29. It was lunchtime and so it seemed strange there was only one other table taken, and the people had just returned their plate to the kitchen, for whatever reason. The overpriced menu wasn't very extensive, although... More

Went here for breakfast as we were staying at their lodge across the road. The food was delicious and the offering on the menu had a Louisiana twist to it and was unlike anything we had tried on our west coast road trip. Loved it!

Loved the patio and the evening fire was great, cool bathroom sink... but their food, especially their fried chicken was just horrible. There were some interesting tastes on other dishes, but even with an open mind--we will just skip this one next time.

Our first visit to this place was a pleasure. Our return trip was the opposite. We had surly, sullen staff who acted like we were an imposition to have in the restaurant. Food was mediocre to bad. Pork shoulder was tough & full of fat - we took it home to the dog. It was like we'd been to a... More

A lot of fun for such a little restaurant. A little New Orleans style place up in the mountains. Awesome coffee drinks and breakfast
