We went to Roadhouse for dinner...it's a cozy little place in a wooded setting with outdoor seating available. Their menu leans toward southwestern foods. They have a bar but we were comfortable there with our teenagers...it probably wouldn't be as good for toddlers. We had the Skirt Steak dinner for $25 (that was one of their more expensive dinners), wonderful... more

This past weekend, my wife and I stayed across the street at Glen Oaks Big Sur Motel (very nice). On Friday night, we decided to wander across the street for dinner as we had already planned on eating at Deetjen's the following evening. As the name implies, this small restaurant is right on Hwy 1 in Big Sur, but there's a fenced courtyard in front which provides a nice buffer between the traffic on the highway and dining area.
