Great Roadstop between SLO and Monterey

This is a good place to stop and eat when traveling Highway 1 between San Luis Obispo and Monterey. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a extensive list of items to choose from. For us this was a brunch so my wife had the breakfast sandwich and I had the Poached Eggs on potato... read more

There are many good things about the restaurant, beautiful setting, nice people and innovative menu. The tables are close together so we couldn't help listening to our neighbor's conversation. A little bit pricey for what we got but we were in Big Sur. no real complaint there. I ordered a roasted vegetable salad with pistachios and a balsamic dressing. I... More

Love coming here and hanging out at the chairs by the river after a big meal. A little pricey, but it's Big Sur, you should expect it! Haven't had the dinner but I've been here for breakfast and lunch and good has been amazing both times!

We stopped for lunch on the way from San Luis Obispo to Santa Cruz. The restaurant is located in a peaceful setting next to the river. The grilled chicken sandwich was very tasty, but I had to eat it with a knife and fork because the pretzel roll it came on was falling apart.

My family of 3 had spent the day driving on slowly from Monterey and were reaching the point of Hangry amongst us including my 5 year old son. I am so grateful that we found this oasis of amazing food and atmosphere in the town of Big Sur! The back deck is a tranquil spot to enjoy a meal while... More

We were told that the best places to dine in Big Sur were Nepenthe and the River Inn. Brunch food at the River Inn was quite disappointing and the service was too slow (even for Big Sur standards). However, you will definitely understand why people love this place once you go see the river side. Come here with the good... More

We arrived early enough to get our stuff unpacked and have dinner. Dinner at the restaurant was nice but I ordered some kind of pasta and it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. The bed was harder than a rock. The trails were very neat and unique and overall it was worth it just for the trail walking and... More

Stopped through at the end of the day on a bike tour. I think the food is excellent with lots of variety, including the craft beers. Even the European riders loved it! Should have seen them ( from the Netherlands) chomping down the great burgers and beers!)

My husband and I stopped here while hiking and exploring in Big Sur. We were dressed athletically so did not go to the restaurant but stopped in the General Store where there is a burrito bar. What a find! The burritos were made to order, huge and filling and also flavorful with some healthful additions like sweet potato, and a... More
