Returning from a short boat trip a few friends decided to stop at John Gray's for dinner rather than wait till we got back to the resort. Turned out to be a great idea. The staff was very friendly, including the owner who came down to talk to us after dinner. The food was excellent, sea food of course. It... More

Wow - what a gem! Honestly, you don't go south and expect fine dining - but you certainly get it here! We had Caesar salads and shrimp/crab cakes for appetizers and they were fantastic! We also had Spinach salad with warm bacon dressing; Duck with sweet potato mash; New York Steak; Roasted pork with Stilton crust; Shrimp Mac & Cheese... More

Loved our experience at John Gray's! Highly suggest the crab cakes for appetizer. Can not beat the duck breast with sweet potato mash for an entrée. The shrimp mac and cheese was also a big hit at our table. Nobody had any complaints about our meal. The best part of the night was watching the bartender make our Mayan coffee... More

My family and I went to John Grey's twice while on vacation. Food was amazing and the service and host were delightful.Celebrated my 50th birthday there. Brownie with ice cream was great! A must stop while vacationing in Puerto Morelos! Also

My family was in Puerto Morelos for over a week and we ate at John Gray's Kitchen twice because it was so good. If you like good steak prepared in a classic Mexican fashion, order the Skirt Steak. It is outstanding and the flavor just melts in your mouth. The steak, combined with the mashed potatoes was fantastic.

Excellent food, nice but not formal ambiance. Local ingredients, prompt service, not in expensive. Crab cakes and tuna tartar were excellent apps.

Our meal was excellent and the staff very friendly. If you go during the off season go after seven when the air conditioning is on and the place is cooler.

We were staying at an all inclusive resort and were quickly tired of the mediocre food. We ventured off site for our final night and were so glad we did. No guacamole on the menu, no problem. They sent out for chips and served us probably the best we've ever had. The service was great and the rest of the... More

We just returned from Playa del Carmen. One of our culinary highlights was dinner at John Gray's Restaurant. We love mussels and had a wonderful appetizer followed by the best tuna tartar anywhere. All portions were enough to share also. The final entre was the duck special. I am not a duck lover - but my husband is.. And, I... More
