Fresh Seafood On The Beach - Excellent View

My wife and I ate at El Merkadito based on the recommendation of one Grand Mayan Concierge. The food was outstanding .We enjoyed fresh fish and shrimp on two separate evenings. The location is on the beach, close to the water's edge. The service was fast and friendly. The salads were wonderful, with... read more

I felt like I was invisible. The food was not worth noting. I waited thirty minutes for the waiter to even look in my direction, before finally walking up to him and asking for my bill. Granted you normally wait a bit longer in Mexico. But I felt like I was just being ignored.

Last night we had (IMHO) the world's best ceviche: shrimp, octopus and fish. I can't begin to describe the flavors, but I will: tender seafood, cilantro, cucumber, lime. As an appetizer they brought us fresh chips with 2 flavors of mayo: chipotle and garlic. For dinner we both had sea bass with garlic and butter over a bed of risotto... More

We ate there twice during our stay. This restaurant came highly recommended by several local acquaintances and we were not disappointed. We had tried almost every restaurant in town during our 10 day stay and I have to say that Merkadito was one of two best restaurants in town. Price was a little high but well worth it. Good service,... More

We had such a wonderful lunch. There were 4 of us and we sat outside on a beautiful clear day. The service was excellent with recommendations. We had 5 dishes we shared and they were all amazing. The lobster in garlic and butter melted in our mouth and all of the dishes were incredibly fresh seafood with great flavors. We... More

Food is phenomenal here, for a small-town restaurant, but the view is incredible, of the beach. We visited this restaurant twice in a 2-week area stay. The first week wasn't a good experience for service as one dinner order of our group was lost and that person never did get their food and the rest of us all were finished.... More

Do you need a break and to be recharged? Come sit by the Caribe, take in this view, and have a refreshing cold drink in a frosty chilled mug. Life is good!

We always visit here for at least for drinks because of the great view . Yesterday we had a huge but pricey lobster tail (1000 pesos ) mixed seafood platter & salad.
