I have been to the Yucatan and Riviera Maya over 40 times in the last 20 yrs.. I have never been treated so rudely as I was at El Pitata! The 2 of us were the 1st there in the eve. The service and the food were so so. We have been to Puerto Morelos at least a dozen times,... More

Just finished our meal at El Pirata. We were a family of five. 3 adults, one 7 year old and one 18 year old. We ordered the grilled garlic shrimp, grilled garlic fish, and fried fish. They were good but nothing special. Also served at table was chips and three sauces. One green sauce with avocado, one pico de gallo,... More

Our group of five attended tonight. We were all looking for something different and we all left very pleased. A great place for the money. The steak was awesome and staff very attentive.

Unlike other restaurants on the town zocalo with ocean breezes, El Pirata is further down Av Rojo Gomez, closer to the condos. However this means that mosquitoes FEAST on exposed ankles and legs during the dinner hour! Our food was just fine, but we had them wrap it up so we could escape the bugs! The waitstaff was friendly and... More

We waited for about an hour and never got the food. They took our order 3 times and the drinks were all messed up. There's an older lady who we thought was the owner or the manager that was rude, didn't care at all. When we told her we'd been waiting for an our already she just replaid or order... More

A full range menu including authentic Mexican dishes,. Try the Chicken Pis-coli (sp), more of a stew than a soup. We usually pick this place when we need a back home hit for burgers / clubs but have eaten quite a few menu items. All good. Friendly place.

We ate at a lot of places in Puerto Morelos on our 10 night stay and we ate at El Pirata on two occasions and we did like it. It was a bit over our backpacker budget but we liked the food. They often have set meal deals with a main, desert and wine which are great value and the... More

In our first evening out in Puerto Morelos, after a trip in Plaza de las Americas - Cancun, we looked for a restaurant close to house, because it was raining. Our driver took us to El Pirata, saying that it is a good restaurant and there is no need prior reservation. Wrong idea, all places were taken and we had... More

For not being beachside, El Pirata's location and décor was very nice. You have a choice of dining in-doors, on a covered patio or at open-air streetside tables. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. Our beers were cold. Along with a basket of tortilla chips EP served 3 small bowls containing the usual salsa cruda and picante verde sauce, but... More

The food at El Pirata was picked from a package and prepared without any attention to taste or presentation. The service was slow and the ambiance was very unattractive. If you are looking for a good place to eat in this wonderful town, try somewhere else.
