A classical Tuscan restaurant in the shade of our medieval castle of Poggio alleMura. Taverna Banfi, open for lunch, is positioned beneath the vaulted arches of the former barrel cellars of the castle where Brunello once rested in large oak casks. In a very pleasant atmosphere, our menu offers the traditional dishes of Montalcino and Tuscany, enhanced by the freshness and authenticity of local ingredients. A full hospitality concept!

We spontaneously decided to visit Castello Banfi on a rainy day and what a positive surprise it was. The property looked closed because it was so quiet. We found the entrance to the wine tasting room and shop and that is when the fun started. We had two different tastings and it was so nice to... read more

This is possibly one of the best vineyard meals I ever had. The food - both al carte and tasting menus were superb. The quail n scallop dishes were delicate and my favorite dish was the tagliatelle cooked with game sauce. Do keep room for desserts as the selection is good. Service is excellent - before they have you seated,... More

The winery itself has great staff and amazing service but the restaurant was not the best in having us. Probably because we were traveling with kids (a 3 year old and a baby) they were not too comfortable with the noise coming from them. The food was great as was the wine. We did not order the degustation and still... More

Let's be honest, this is not an "affordable" meal. At €75 for the complete tasting-menu lunch, €90 with the wine pairings, this is a splurge. But the five-course meal, plus amuse-bouche to start, plus bread, was so exceptional that it honestly felt like a bargain. There's an a la carte menu, as well, if you don't have a huge appetite... Let's begin with the resevation process, it was smooth, cordial and prompt! We made reservation for lunch and winery tour. We were told to be at noon for some appertifs....so we did.. They recieved us with a selection of three sparkling wines and some hors d'ouevres. By 1:00pm we were heading to the restaurant. The waiters, 3 ladies for the... More

We were celebrating my husband's "important" birthday with our sons and daughter-in-law, so we didn't mind splurging on the 5-course tasting menu for this very special meal. The wine tasting in the enoteca (in a separate building on the grounds) was a fine prelude to this great meal. The taverna is a lovely setting and the service is gracious and... More

My husband and I decided to come here for our last meal in Tuscany. I was blown away by how expensive everything was, but all of the reviews said the price was worth it. It was not. First, not all of the menus have prices on them; the one menu we received that did have prices listed did not have... More

Despite a nice presentation, the food and wine is extremely overpriced. A better meal can be had at less than half the price in Pienza or Montalcino. As for wine, you can walk next door to the Enoteca and spend half as much for the exact same bottle. They seem to cater to American tourists. I seriously doubt that you... More

Our lunch at La Taverna at Castello Banfi was an incredible treat, and was well worth the price. The dining room is tastefully decorated with a high ceiling, and yet the Taverna still has an intimate feel. Windows from the dining room overlook the beautiful countryside. The staff were also very professional and unobtrusive. We chose to do a 3... More

After taking a tour of the winery at Banfi, sat down for a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised by La Taverna. Enjoyed a five course meal with paired wines and was extremely pleased with what I experienced. The food was fresh, presented well, and was rich in flavor. The best was the Veal Filet paired with the Castello Banfi... More
